Isuzu has brought in the facelifted Mu-X to Malaysia. The newly upgraded seven seater SUV was unveiled earlier today at the Isuzu sponsored inaugural History Convention 2017 (the folks at the History Channel) at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park (MAEPS) in Serdang.
The historical event, pun intended, was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Education, YB Dato’ P. Kamalanathan s/o P. Panchanathan, together with the CEO of Isuzu Malaysia, Kenji Matsuoka, the Executive Director, Hajime Machimura, the Deputy Managing Director of A+E Networks Asia, Prem Kamath. Notable personalites from the History Channel include Michael Henry aka Horny Mike Henry from History Channel’s Counting Cars cast and the very yummy Isuzu brand ambassador, Yuumi.
According to the folks at Isuzu, major upgrades include a new front end with blue spectrum bi-LED projector headlamps, 6 SRS airbags (safety is up), soft touch bits on the front dashboard (some leather bits attached to the dashboard), a more prominent looking center console with an upgraded infotainment system (with 8 speakers), a more integrated flip down rear tv monitor, Hill Descend Control, 18” alloy wheels and a new colour Havana Brown which is now an addition to the current Silky White Pearl, Titanium Silver Metallic and Cosmic Black Mica.colours available.
The car looks more The car looks more cohesive than ever. It feels a little more premium than before too. It is actually better value for money than the pre-facelift model. Of course, it couldn't come at a better time especially with stiff competition from the usual Asian players.
The Isuzu Mu-X is priced from RM 183,000.40 on the road without insurance for the 4x4 variant and RM 176,640.40 for the 4x2 variant. It comes with a 5-speed automatic transmission and retains the 136ps/320Nm 2.5L VGS Turbo Intercooler diesel engine.

Kuala Lumpur, 4 August 2017 – Isuzu Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. has announced the arrival of the new 2017 Isuzu mu-X. The seven seats SUV has been improved with major upgrades in the exterior, interior and safety aspects.
The vehicle was unveiled by the Deputy Minister of Education, YB Dato’ P. Kamalanathan s/o P. Panchanathan, together with the CEO of Isuzu Malaysia, Kenji Matsuoka, the Executive Director, Hajime Machimura, the Deputy Managing Director of A+E Networks Asia, Prem Kamath, Michael Henry aka Horny Mike Henry from History Channel’s Counting Cars cast and Isuzu brand ambassador, Yuumi. The launch was held at the Isuzu sponsored inaugural History Convention 2017 at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park (MAEPS) in Serdang.
The key upgrades includes a new facade with blue spectrum bi-LED projector headlamps, 6 SRS airbags, soft touches interior, Hill Descend Control, 18” alloy wheels and a new colour Havana Brown.
The new price of the facelift was quoted at RM 183,000.40 on the road without insurance for the 4x4 variant and RM 176,640.40 for the 4x2 variant. It comes in 5-speed automatic transmission only, and retains the long proven world class fuel efficient diesel engine in the 2.5L VGS Turbo Intercooler.
At the launch, Isuzu Malaysia CEO, Kenji Matsuoka said that he is confident in the build quality of the Isuzu mu-X and that Isuzu’s conservatively tuned engine has always been known for its paramount durability and reliability.
“Our vehicles have always been designed on our three key principals in fuel efficiency, reliability and durability. The thousands of hours spent by our engineers in refining the Isuzu mu-X has resulted in this pinnacle engine build, and enable us to provide 5 years unlimited mileage warranty,” he added.
The car has been fitted with aggressive front fascia to depict its strong and powerful look. The vehicle styling concept is inspired by the bald eagle resulting in sharp and lustrous front fascia. Both 4x4 and 4x2 mu-X is equipped with a new 18’ alloy wheels to complement its prestigious look.
To further enhance its exterior look, the new mu-X is equipped with Bi-LED projector headlights in blue light spectrum and LED Daytime Running Light (DRL). This feature improves driver vision when driving at night and reduces driver fatigue due to the blue spectrum light range. The headlamp also comes with an auto-leveling feature that keeps the light projection in the optimum direction as the user adds weight to the vehicle. New rear fog lamp is also incorporated to this vehicle.
Inside, the new mu-X will indulge the driver and passengers with its exquisite interior design. It is upgraded with soft surfaces for majestic feeling with wood pattern panel at the door trim and front dashboard. The elegant center graphic and new design electroluminescent (e-LUMAX) meter panel with Multi-Information Display (MID) is installed to give more notable features for this vehicle.
The other prominent improvement is its new refined quilt pattern leather seat to ensure the comfort of the driver and passengers. Its infotainment system is upgraded with 8 speakers surrounding the car delivering clear audio for all occupants. The 4x4 variant comes with an 8” DVD touchscreen and comes with a fold down monitor for back row occupants. The 4x2 version has the 7” DVD touchscreen.
New to the Isuzu mu-X, the Hill Descent Control (HDC) is added. HDC function allows a smooth and controlled hill descent in rough terrain. The driver can adjust vehicle speed to suit slope conditions by depressing the brake pedal or accelerator (maximum 30 km/h). It works for both hill forward and backward descent.
Additionally, it now comes with 6 SRS airbags for increased safety.
The full complement of driving safety aids includes Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Traction Control System (TCS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA) and Hill Start Assist (HSA) among others.
Executive Director of Isuzu Malaysia, Hajime Machimura is confident that this new mu-X refreshment will satisfy those looking for sophisticated vehicle outlook and yet able to safeguard their safety.
