The Malaysia Autoshow 2020, which was scheduled to occur in July 2020 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) will now been postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the measures that were implemented to contain it. The annual autoshow is organised by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), and it will skip a whole year and only be scheduled for April 2021 but with the proviso that it is subject to the developments of the COVID-19 throughout this year and even 2021 from what we hear.
MARii CEO, Dato’ Madani Sahari had stated that despite the postponement of Malaysia Autoshow this year, MARii is looking at potential technologies to host a digital version of an automotive sales and education show which can be accessed via their social media pages or their main website.
“Despite the absence of this year’s edition of the Autoshow, it is a good time to rethink and innovate the way we gather the automotive community in a safe and secure way”, said Dato’ Madani Sahari, CEO MARii.
“We hope that the situation improves this year so we can start planning for an even bigger Autoshow next year, showcasing the latest mobility technology and creating a new experience in automotive and mobility exhibitions for the tech-savvy consumer”, he added.
Being that MARii is a government agency which is spearheading the push for the use of information technology and robotics mainly in the automotive industry, we should see something cooking in the next few months as regards automotive related bits. Currently, they are indeed busy pushing digitalisation for manufacturers, connected mobility in vehicles and also other online related stuff for the automotive industry.
