The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 Style (X156) variant is now on sale. This is based on the facelifted (2017 onwards) GLA Series of crossover vehicles from Mercedes-Benz and it sports a new 1.6L 4-Cylinder Turbocharged Engine. It features the Style Line exterior and interior trim which makes it an interesting proposition at RM223,888 before insurance.
The new 1.6liter engine of the 2019 GLA 200 Style makes 225kW (156 hp) and 250Nm torque. It is front wheel driven via a 7G-DCT transmission that allows it to accelerate from 0 -100km/h in 8.1 seconds. Maximum speed is 215kmh.
As for the styling of the.... Style Line, well, it has to be stylish to say the least. The exterior of the refreshed GLA 200 still has all of the baby SUV looks to it. The GLA has aged well since its first unveiling at the end of 2013. With its facelift is 2017, the crossover still looks relevant in 2019 and with this new package, and a seemingly lower price - I remember it was priced over RM235K when it was first launched this is a better package these days.
The Style Line exterior sports 18-inch 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels and additional inserts in high-gloss chrome on the radiator trim in matt iridium silver. The beltline trim strip and the load sill guard also feature an elegant chrome finish. These new styling lines are indeed different from the usual Avantgarde or AMG Line packages as Mercedes-Benz now has Style Line and Progressive Line which are derivatives from the Avantgarde line if I am not mistaken.
As for the inside, the seats finished in ARTICO man-made leather (like in all 'entry' level Mercedes-Benz) but this also has Macapá fabric feature / cloth inserts ala half leather, half fabric sports seats which has an innovative pattern inspired by tyre tracks which lends the interior a special off-road touch.
In terms of kit inside, the 2019 GLA 200 Style also comes with smartphone integration that links the mobile phone with the media system via Apple® CarPlay® and Android Auto®. It provides convenient access to the most important applications from the smartphone, projected onto the 8.0-inch media display.
