New Proton 3S Dealership Opens in Tebobon, Kota Kinabalu

Kota Kinabalu has a brand new Proton Cars outlet. Proton dealers Shirba Auto World Sdn Bhd (Shirba Auto) recently officially opened their brand new Proton 3S outlet over there and the event was jointly officiated by YB Datuk Darell Leiking, the Minister of International Trade and Industry and Yusri Bin Yusuf, Senior Director, Corporate Strategy, PROTON. The new centre will ensure Proton's promise to push for better customer experience overall.

This new 3S centre is the third Proton dealer outlet opened in Kota Kinabalu. In is located along Jalan Tuaran in Tebobon. In terms of the facilities, the centre has a built-up area of 2,259 square meters which consists of a sizable vehicle showroom, 12 service bays, 6 service hoists, a comfortable customer lounge with free Wi-Fi. There is also ample parking space to accommodate customer cars too.

To date, Proton has 104 3S & 4S outlets throughout Malaysia. This makes the brand have the most number of outlets to offer sales and services all under one roof. So while Proton has been making a lot of progress in terms of its sales numbers these days, they are back to being 2nd in the total industry volume for passenger vehicles, they now have achieved theoretical capability to properly cater to most of their customer's sales and aftersales needs.

The new centre is in line with Proton's ongoing effort to encourage dealers to upgrade existing outlets as well as the need to attract new dealerships to market and sell Proton vehicles. Shirba Auto World is a new dealership and was most likely attracted to the potential of the revitalised brand.

As a new Proton dealership holder, Ridzuan Datuk Hj Lassim, Director of Shirba Auto World Sdn Bhd, sees a lot of opportunities in Proton. Ridzuan said, “The future business outlook for PROTON is promising, especially with its range of new car models. It also gives a lot of confidence to the public that Proton is currently managed by a pool of talent with global experience. It is a company which is exciting, international, forward looking and ready to take on the market”.

“The initiatives that are put in place have resulted in us gaining confidence from investors and the market. Many have decided to invest in a dealership because they have witnessed the positive developments at Proton. They see Proton as a solid brand and are willing to partner with us. Brand perception has also shifted and this is evident from our increasing sales,” remarked Dr Li Chunrong, Chief Executive Officer of PROTON.

Sabah could be seen as a potential growth market for Proton. Its total year-to-date sales in East Malaysia saw a growth of 31%, whilst for Sabah, the increase was 39%, compared to the same period last year. The most popular Proton in Sabah is currently the Proton Saga.
