This is a bit of interesting news. NZ Wheels Sdn Bhd, who are an authorised dealer for Mercedes-Benz in Malaysia, has taken over the Mercedes-Benz Service and Spares centre, in Setapak. The long time Mercedes-Benz dealer seems to have bought over this Autohaus previously run by Auto Commerz Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the Swire Group of Companies.
The new to NZ wheels, formerly Auto Commerz Autohaus is now the NZ Wheels Setapak Autohaus. It sits on 13,866 sqft of land and has a built-up area of 9,200 sqft. The service centre has five mechanical work bays and one wheel alignment bay. It has the servicing capacity of up to 250 vehicles a month for both general and specialized repair. Currently there are 10 highly-trained personnel experienced in technical, service and parts managing the service and maintenance works over there.
The Autohaus in Setapak is a 2S (service and spare parts) facility also conforms to the Mercedes-Benz Presentation System II (MPS II) Autohaus concept in line with the marque’s global customer experience concept and corporate identity. According to NZ Wheels, the reason for taking over the 2S centre is to complement their existing 1S (sales) facility located in Bangsar. They already operate a 3S Centre over in Klang so this is more of a strategic expansion to this part of greater Kuala Lumpur.

The automotive scene here is indeed fluid and ever changing. It does seem that Taiwan based Swire Group have decided to take a break from the Malaysian automotive scene. They first entered the fray as Volkswagen dealers in Puchong, then Audi in Puchong, then opting for Mercedes-Benz while ending their Audi venture, then handing over operations of the Volkswagen Puchong branch to Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia and now this Mercedes-Benz Autohaus to NZ Wheels. NZ Wheels has actually been a partner to Mercedes-Benz for decades as the Klang Autohaus is one of the oldest and largest in Malaysia.
