The Malaysia Autoshow 2019 will be happening this 11th to 14th April 2019, at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS). So if you have nothing much to do that weekend and love everything to do with automobiles and the related tech you should take a trip there to have a look see. This 2019 edition of the Malaysia Autoshow is organised by Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) which was previously known as Malaysia Automotive Institute and is themed 'Mobility for All'. This showcases the advances in automotive technology, safety and comfort with the emphasis for vehicles sold for the Malaysian market.
Speaking at the Malaysia Autoshow 2019 Press Conference yesterday, Chief Executive Officer of MARii Dato' Madani Sahari said that this year's Malaysia Autoshow will see participation from 32 OEMs and 170 exhibitors from 7 countries. MARii also predicts a turnout of 350,000 people throughout the four day autoshow. Visitors will also get a chance to win Two Perodua cars - a Myvi and a Bezza, a Kia hatchback and also a Vespa scooter among other amazing lucky draw prizes.
"While most of us are not part of the automotive industry, Malaysians are still relevant to the industry as transportation is a basic necessity. This makes public awareness and education on the latest trends in automotive technology is a key agenda for the government and industry alike. The public must know how to keep themselves safe on the road through the technology options that are emerging in the market. Therefore, the Malaysia Autoshow is an important platform to showcase new vehicle technology, and also new economic opportunities that lie in its future." said Dato' Madani.
This year’s Autoshow will be launched by Prime Minister, YAB Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. It will showcase the latest models, customised cars and immersive outdoor activities await Malaysia Autoshow Visitors. Like previous editions of the Autoshow, this is one which has outdoor and indoor activities and displays. There will be an outdoor go kart, SUV off-road track, test drives and more. As for indoor exhibits, there will be three exhibition Halls - A, C & D open for visitors.
Hall A will be showcasing the latest vehicles on offer in Malaysia including the newest Energy Efficient Models. Over 100 car models from various manufacturers are expected to be on display. Visitors will also be offered special packages and deals, as well as special finance packages through its bank partner at the show. The IAM brings together a community of modified car enthusiasts that have the passion for tricking out their vehicles both in terms of performance, chassis tuning and also bodywork.
Like the previous Malaysia Autoshow, the Autoshow will utilise a lot of the outdoor areas at MAEPS. There will be 3km long test drive track which visitors will use to test drive the latest cars offered for sale by the exhibitors, a SUV test drive hill / track as well as numerous outdoor activities such as safety driving & drift demos, truck safety awareness and many more. Visitors can also get a free vehicle inspection 21-point inspection at the Car Care Week campaign organised by MARii at the MAEPS visitor parking lot.
Hall D is where MARii will showcase the future of connected mobility. The hall is renamed the "MARii Mobility Hall" during the Autoshow and will bring visitors through an immersive journey throughout the entire automotive value chain - from automotive styling, design, engineering and manufacturing, and provide a vision of Malaysia's mobility ecosystem in the future. This is where automotive industry players will showcase their latest developments in terms of the automotive industry.
The Hall will feature more than 25 exhibit areas comprising more than 100 automotive industry players, engineering services providers, institutions of higher learning and government agencies will showcase their technologies, processes and workflows. These would include new technology in-line with Industry 4.0.
There will be a Mobility Township with many individual displays which will immerse visitors in emerging technology in the mobility sector as well as elements of the future. The MARii Mobility Hall will also host the MARii Activity Arena, with numerous experiential activities for the enitre family, including robotics and coding classes, STEM play grounds, skills demonstations and e-sports competitions.
Since MARii is also about robotics, MARii will be collaborating with Sabah’s Kinabalu Coders, to bring in a Robot Combat tournament. 32 teams from around Malaysia will be competing to in an action-packed robot tournament, to determine which robot design and construction survives as the champion. It isn't just about automobiles as there are now other forms of technology on showcase. The Robot Combat and MAVEC final stages will take place between the 12 th to 14 th April 2019 at the MARii Activity Arena.
The Activity Arena will also feature the Malaysia Autonomous Vehicle Challenge (MAVEC’19), organised by SAE Malaysia and the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) under MARii’s patronage. MAVeC’19 is the first Autonomous Vehicle (AV)-based technology competition in Malaysia, where 12 teams from institutions of higher learning will compete in the final stages at the Autoshow.
So yes, it is just around the corner, the Malaysia Autoshow 2019 - Motoring Malaysia.
