Use Genuine Spare Parts and Service at Hyundai Authorised Centres Say Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors After News of Fake Hyundai Parts Emerge

Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) have announced that there is an ongoing service promotion at all Hyundai authorised service centres now offers up to 20 percent discount on selected genuine parts until 31 July 2018. They also would like to take the opportunity to inform their customers to service their vehicles exclusively at authorised Hyundai service centres where the spare parts used for any servicing or repairs are genuine.

The ongoing Hyundai service promotion also offers 10 percent discount on labour costs, a mystery gift for customers who spend RM500 and above on service, as well as a 15 percent discount for a fuel system cleaner. Grand Starex Royale owners also have exclusive discounts of up to 50 percent on genuine parts for their land yachts and are eligible for two mystery gifts when they spend of RM500 and above on service.

According to Mr Dennis Ho, Managing Director of Sime Darby Motors (Malaysia, Thailand and Taiwan), these service promotions are meant to encourage vehicle owners to service their vehicles at authorised service centres. Hyundai certified and trained service personnel are able to examine the condition of their vehicles and can even authenticate the parts used if the vehicles have been serviced at unauthorised centres.

“Continuous education on the safety hazards of using counterfeit parts is important. Customers can be assured that authorised service centres use only genuine parts and can offer customers a peace of mind when it comes to the safety of their vehicles,” mentioned Ho.

HSDM have basically come up with this news release following news reports on the sale of fake Hyundai and Kia parts by unauthorised auto part dealers. The fake parts that were seized were fast moving parts, which include oil filters, air filters, brake pads and spark plugs. There were also reports that the fake parts were sold at the same price as the originals.

HDSM had stressed that customers need to be wary of such products and that they should not to risk their safety by using parts that may not be genuine. Things like fake oil filters can be a problem if they do not have the necessary flow rate (for the oil to circulate) or have proper sized filteration properties to keep the oil clean. Fake brake pads could also be unsafe as they may not be able to actually slow down a car fast enough like the genuine ones.

By sending their cars to authorised service centres, customers are also assured of the best quality of service by trained and certified Hyundai personnel. Hyundai customers will also enjoy free gifts from time to time, including the privilege to participate in customer events. Of course there are those that say servicing at the authorised service centres cost more but the benefit to this is that there is peace of mind in terms of quality. Sometimes, service centres outside do take advantage of those that are unaware.
