Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) Acquires 15 units of the Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4-litre from PLUS and another 8 Mitsubishi Vehicles From ANIH


The Royal Malaysia Police, or better known here as Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) recently acquired 15 units of Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4-litre SUV. The SUVs were actually contributed by PLUS Highway for the traffic enforcement on Malaysian highways. 



A small handover ceremony was recently held at Persada PLUS, Subang Jaya. The Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzu Harun was present together with senior police officers as well as senior management of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia, the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia were present to witness the handover.

The Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4s were contributed by PLUS to PDRM are to be used as Expressway Mobile Patrol Vehicle (EMPV). According to Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi, the SUVs will be known as ‘Police Highway Eagle’ and their deployment is to enhance the effectiveness in enforcing traffic laws especially during festive seasons.

Chief Executive Officer of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia, Tomoyuki Shinnishi had this to add about the Mitsubishi Outlander SUV, “Safety is the Mitsubishi Outlander's strongest suit, befitting its role as a family vehicle. But now, we are delighted to know that besides being one of the best safety specced vehicles on the road, the Outlander is meeting every requirement of PDRM to assist them with the enforcement of traffic laws on the highway.”


“With many years of winning experience in the grueling Dakar Rally under its belt, Mitsubishi is also a specialist in rugged 4WD vehicles. So with the Outlander’s safety function, power and stability, we are confident that the Outlander will do its part in assisting our policeman to eradicate traffic offences and eventually lower the risk of road accidents.” added Tomoyuki (seen in the photo above - 1st from left together with Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi - 1st from right).

Aside from the above, PDRM also acquired eight Mitsubishi cars consisting of Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4-litre and Mitsubishi ASX Compact SUV contributed by another highway concessionair, ANIH Berhad. According to MMM, the contribution made by these two highway concessions were valued at an estimation of RM3 million. The Mitsubishi Outlander.

It is great that some of those profits gained by road users is actually given back in the form of police patrol vehicles rather than just lining the pockets of the shareholders. Of course, do take note that these vehicles will now be used to enforce the traffic laws. So be vigilant and be disciplined, folks.
