Scania Malaysia Holds Scania Family Days at Branches Throughout July & August - The Scania Ipoh Branch Being The Latest

The Staff at Scania Malaysia are usually used to welcoming their customers - fleet owners and drivers, while at work in their respective service centres but they were also welcoming their families at the Scania Family Day which will be held at all the branches throughout Malaysia over July and August.

The Scania Family Day was recently held in Bukit Jelutong branch and more recently in Ipoh, Perak. The family day event provided an opportunity for Scania Malaysia staff and their immediate family members to mingle around with one another, see what goes on to keep the trucks and buses profitable for their owners, have some food, drink and learn the roles of their other half working in Scania.

The purpose of the Scania Family Day is to give visiting family members an idea about what is it like to work at Scania and the full picture of what Scania can offer as an employer. Families will learn more about Scania’s strategic focus which is on customer profitability by being in the forefront of sustainable transport solutions. Now, those that work with Scania Malaysia can say that they actually know how their other half works. No more second guessing what he or she does anymore and what benefits that a Scania employee will receive.

The Scania Family Day provides information counters for Scania Genuine Parts and Scania Fleet Management System, a Scania Truck Simulator game console and a Scania autonomous platooning table that depicts the future of the industry which Scania is developing so that those that attend know every aspect of what Scania does or will be doing in the near future.

“Scania’s continuing success is based on our employees and our core values. We focus on the individual and our future success depends on the achievements from our employees,” said Managing Director of Scania Southeast Asia, Marie Sjödin Enström (pictured above with a  Scania staff and his family members).

“We treat each other the way we want to be treated. We listen and understand. From drivers of vehicles to all our employees and society at large, the individual stands at the centre in all that we do. We seek to capture the knowledge, experience and ambition of each individual to continuously improve what we do, and how we do it”, added Marie.

Truck Hand Over Ceremony

At the Scania Family Day in Ipoh, Scania Malaysia also held an official handover ceremony of Scania vehicles to four of its key customers within the region – SR Gemilang Transport (M) Sdn Bhd (pictured above), Perniagaan & Pengangkutan Yeap Sdn Bhd (below), Sakthy Transport Sdn Bhd and Chipseng Heng Enterprise Sdn Bhd.

As always, the performance, reliability, fuel economy and safety of the Scania vehicles that contribute to the profitability and sustainability of their business are the reasons why these customers decided to make Scania vehicles their ideal choice for their haulage operations.

Fleet Management System competition

Aside from the above, the Ipoh event also saw Scania presenting awards for achieving the best fuel savings for a competition based on its Fleet Management System to Ipoh Overland Tours & Travel Sdn Bhd for the bus category (pictured above) and Sakthy Transport Sdn Bhd for the truck category (pictured below).

The Scania Fleet Management System (FMS) is a total solutions approach for its customers to achieve the best profitability and efficiency in their businesses. The FMS gathers data from the driver’s performance and vehicle, which is then used together with methods such as driver training and coaching to increase the productivity of the fleet, achieve fuel economy and eventually reduce the cost of operations.

All in all, Scania Malaysia seems to have made everyone happy this time around, from customers to family members of Scania employees. It is quite good as the branch employees are the first line of contact with the customers, and sometimes, recognition of their services through other means like family day events are also beneficial towards their performance. So a family day brings better rapport between the staff as well as everyone within Scania. Now that's value added services on all fronts.
