Castrol Malaysia Launches The New and Improved Castrol MAGNATEC with DUALOCK Technology

Castrol MAGNATEC engine oil has been around for over 20 years here in Malaysia and it is a familiar name to those that actually shop around for their own engine oil. The Castrol brand however is an old brand that has been around for a long time here. So now, Castrol Malaysia (a brand under BP Castrol Lubricants (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd) has launched the newly improved Magnatec engine oil in Malaysia. We are the fourth country that this new formulation has been introduced to - following China, India and Thailand.

This latest blend of Castrol Magnatec has been infused with Castrol's ‘DUALOCK TM Technology’. Dualock is short for dual lock (which conincidently 'dua' means two in Malay) where two different protective molecules tightly lock together and cling to the engine surface, forming a powerful protective layer that delivers a 50% reduction of warm-up and stop-start engine wear. 5 This new generation of Castrol MAGNATEC was designed specifically with traffic congestion in mind by the Castrol Technology team, providing greater protection to vehicles operating in today’s road conditions. Accprding to Castrol Malaysia, it has taken about ten years of research and development before Castrol decided to launch this latest Magnatec engine oil.

Keow Mei-Shan, Marketing Director for Castrol Malaysia and Singapore said, “At Castrol, we have recognised that the increasing number of vehicles would lead to greater traffic congestion and contribute to the problem of engines experiencing more instances of stop-start wear. It took 10 years and more than 3 million kilometres of real-world driving to introduce a new generation of Castrol MAGNATEC. The re-invented Castrol MAGNATEC formulation with its revolutionary DUALOCK TM Technology is engineered specifically for such stressful driving conditions. We believe that this launch will further strengthen Castrol’s leadership position in Malaysia.”

Unsung Hero Campaign
In conjunction with the launch of the new generation Castrol MAGNATEC, Castrol Malaysia also kicked-off its ‘Unsung Hero’ campaign to pay tribute to the everyday heroes of Malaysia in order to recognise their invaluable contributions to society. These would include parents, mechanics, guardians and volunteers who faithfully care for and protect their charges tirelessly out of love and a sense of duty without expecting any rewards in return. A series of initiatives and programmes are slated to take place as part of this campaign over the coming months.

The DUALOCK TM Technology is available in the full range of Castrol MAGNATEC with DUALOCK  Technolocy is available in 4 types which would cover most vehicle makes. It will replace the old Magnatec (which will be sold until stocks run out) and will be available at Castrol Auto Service outlets, car workshops and retailers throughout Malaysia. It is suitable for use in petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles depending on viscosity (suitability is stated on the packaging). It will be priced from RM137.00 onwards until the low RM200.00s, offering reasonable value for your money.

I personally have used Castrol Magnatec in my old Subaru Impreza TS for most of the seven years I owned the car. It has not failed me and I do believe the new one would be just as good or better. Another note is that currently the engine oil is imported from Castrol's refinery in Thailand with plans to manufacture it here in 2019 onwards. The oil is also a standardised blend suitable for all four seasons, i.e The same blend is used globally.
