Trucks: Volvo Trucks Malaysia Delivers Ten New Volvo FM440 6X2 Prime Movers To Taipanco Sdn Bhd

Taipanco Sdn Bhd has added 10 units of Volvo FM440 6x2 prime movers. Volvo Trucks Malaysia recently hosted an official vehicle handover event in conjunction with this purchase by Taipanco Sdn Bhd. The logistics specialist has been a strong supporter of Volvo Trucks since 2005 with over 130 trucks purchased since 2005. These new units of Volvo FM440 delivered are part of Taipanco’s continuous fleet expansion plan.

Taipanco Sdn Bhd, together with its wholly-owned subsidiary, Shallas Sdn Bhd, specialize in container haulage, warehousing and freight forwarding services. The company mainly services the two major ports in Malaysia, namely The Westport and Northport, both of which are located in Port Klang.

The official handover of 10 units of Volvo FM440 6x2 prime movers was held at Taipanco’s office at Bandar Suleiman, Port Klang and was attended by the senior management team members of both companies. Volvo Trucks Malaysia brought the Volvo exhibition trailer in which the guests were able to view videos of Volvo Trucks’ products and innovative technology making it more than just a normal sort of handover ceremony.

Dato’ Nazari Haji Akbar, Executive Director of Taipanco Sdn Bhd (pictured below with Mr Mats Nilsson) said, “We believe that having a dependable truck fleet is one of the key factors that contribute to our business growth. In the past decade, Volvo Trucks has been partnering with us along our growth journey by continuing to provide us with durable products and reliable after-market services.”

As for Volvo Trucks Malaysia, Mats Nilsson, Managing Director of Volvo Malaysia had this to say, “We are very pleased to host this handover ceremony for our very valued customer and business partner, Taipanco Sdn Bhd, whom we have established a good relationship with for many years,”

“With our flagship workshop located right next to Taipanco’s operation base here in Port Klang, we are fortunate to be so close to each other, enabling Volvo Malaysia to provide the best support that we can to ensure vehicle uptime.” added Mats who explained the convenience for both parties in terms of the ease of service and Volvo Trucks' commitment towards their customer.

Volvo Trucks Malaysia has stated that it has always been part of Volvo Trucks’ mission is to provide quality both in terms of products and service. The truck company hopes to continue developing a close customer relationship with Taipanco as well as all their customers, by listening and understanding the changing needs of the customers and responding to them quickly.

Taipanco has the added benefit of having their truck service centre right beside their base of operations making servicing so much easier for them. You can't get any better than that in our opinion.

The Volvo FM series of trucks

The Volvo FM series of trucks were first introduced in 1998 as FM7, FM10 and FM12. The current FM is currently the second generation FM series of trucks - 2001 onwards with the current upgraded FM produced in 2005 with its latest round of refresh in 2010.

The FM moniker stands for Forward control Medium height cab. Yes, whilst the Volvo FM is a heavy duty truck, it is still the mid range in Volvo Trucks' range of heavy duty vehicles.

The numbers denominate an engine capacity in litres - FM10 for 10.0liters, FM12 for 12.0ltr . But as of 2005 the engine size is no longer added to the model denomination as Volvo Trucks seem to also use the horsepower rating nowadays.

The FM range is a multipurpose truck range for distribution, construction and on highway/off highway transport duties. In 2013, Volvo Trucks announced an updated, Euro VI version of the Volvo FM for markets that have these level of fuel rating.
