The 2017 Hyundai Grand Starex Royale is launched in Malaysia

Hyundai Sime Darby Motors has launched the latest facelifted Hyundai Grand Starex Royale in Malaysia. The new 2017 Model Year Grand Starex Royale gets some exterior updates starting a new massive looking front chrome grille and bumper.

The sides also have a slightly different side claddings and the rear gets black cladding surrounding the rear light clusters as well as very integrated exhaust pipes in the rear bumper. Basically the front end gets an in-your-face type grille which is currently very popular with the MPV type crowd.

The good thing is that Hyundai is keeping that fabulous 2.5-litre CRDi turbo diesel engine. It is this that makes the Starex something different from the normal MPVs out there. Tell me which other MPV has 170PS and a whopping 392 Nm of torque? This is one of the faster (and actually more stable) MPVs sold in Malaysia. I've seen many bombing up and down the North South highway and a few friends of mine actually rent this MPV for their outstation trips with their family, and extended family too as it is huge! The Starex actually handles too. Which is quite surprising since it is a bungalow on wheels (it can seat at least 11 people with ease).

The Grand Starex Royale comes with 4 rows of leather seats, swivel seats, Cruise Control, Safe Drive Recorder and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) aside from the usual creature comforts. The 2.5GLS Diesel (A) VGT priced at RM168,888 (OTR with roadtax and insurance) in West Malaysia and is available in four colours - Creamy White, Timeless Black and Hyper Silver. As with all new Hyundais sold in Malaysia, it comes with a five-year or 300,000km (whichever comes first) extended warranty on all its new passenger vehicles. A 24-hour road assist service is also now available for new and existing Hyundai vehicles.

The Grand Starex Royale facelift will be available for viewing, booking and test-drive at all Hyundai showrooms nationwide from December 2016 onwards.

PRESS RELEASE
HYUNDAI GRAND STAREX ROYALE
SPOTS A DYNAMIC NEW LOOK IN LATEST FACELIFT

SHAH ALAM, 23 November 2016 - Family favorite MPV, the Hyundai Grand

Starex Royale, has been given a makeover, featuring an exciting new look,

making its presence on the road even more distinct and bold.

The most evident cosmetic change to the exterior is the front chrome grille that

carries an entirely new and original look. "The all new Grand Starex Royale 2017

facelift comes with a superior bold look that can best be described as daring,

fearless and brave,” said Mr. Lau Yit Mun, Managing Director of Hyundai Sime

Darby Malaysia (HSDM).

“Breaking away from the previous design and identity, the aero dynamic side

cladding and bent high glossy black sculpture rear design sees the Starex being

transformed totally,” Lau added.

While the earlier version has a more traditional grille that sits just above the front

bumper, the 2017 facelift has a grille design that continues downward and

become part of the bumper design. This naturally add changes to the fog lights

on the front bumper. While the Grand Starex Royale wins hands down as a

favourite and affordable family MPV, the new design will also be equally

appealing to the younger generation, which makes it an ideal MPV for everyone.

Overall it is suitable to all Malaysian.

Hyundai first produced the Grand Starex Royale in 1997 which made its debut in

the Malaysian market in 1998. Since its inclusion into the Hyundai product range,

the Grand Starex Royale has not stayed docile and has grabbed numerous car

awards in its category, both locally and abroad.

With the 2017 facelift, The Grand Starex Royale maintains its industry-leading

powerhouse – the advanced 2.5-litre CRDi diesel engine coupled with a Variable

Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) and a turbo intercooler.

This engine unleashes a potent maximum power output of 125 kW (170PS) at

3,800 rpm and a massive maximum torque of 392 Nm (40 kg-m) at 2,000 to

2,500 rpm for instantaneous response and exhilarating performance.

Other standard features that the Grand Starex Royale is most loved for are

Cruise Control, Safe Drive Recorder and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP).

The Grand Starex Royale 2017 facelift maintains the best value for money for a

large and modern MPV in Malaysia, with the Grand Starex Royale Deluxe

2.5GLS Diesel (A) VGT attractively priced at RM168, 888 (OTR with roadtax and

insurance) in West Malaysia.

The vehicle comes in four colours - Creamy White, Timeless Black and Hyper

Silver – and viewing, booking and test-drive is available at all Hyundai

showrooms nationwide from December 2016 onwards.

Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors offers a five-year or 300,000km (whichever comes

first) extended warranty on all its new passenger vehicles. A 24-hour road assist

service is also now available for new and existing Hyundai vehicles.
