There is a backlog of events that I have to write about. So many things have been happening over the past month or so and I have only two hands and ten fingers (any more hands or fingers would be scary actually, but you get my point). Anyway....the recent 2016 Shell Malaysia MotoGP events had some interesting events that have actually allowed the regular Joe to take a peek into the happenings of motorsport and the automotive industry.
Six lucky fans received a unique and unprecedented opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of motorcycling with MICHELIN VIP hospitality experience at the Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix 2016 held at Sepang International Circuit (SIC).
Twenty-two year-old Johorian, Muhammad Hussaini bin Helmee and Muhammad Ikhmal Ibrahim of the same age from Klang Valley were among the six lucky winners of the MotoGP Digital Campaign organised by MICHELIN in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia where participants were required to submit a picture of themselves with their motorcycle in the most creative way.
Muhammad Hussaini and Muhammad Ikhmal were brought over to watch the MotoGP and they got to see much more than the average visitors. As part of the all-expenses-paid hospitality package from Michelin, they were treated to the best available viewing area at the Paddock Club, gourmet dining experience, access to the main race paddock and visit of the Michelin tyre workshop.
They also received an exclusive tour of the team garage and access to the official MotoGP VIP Village, as well as meet-and-greet sessions with racers.
Sometimes, a glimpse into the lives of the people in this industry would leave a lasting impression. A once in a lifetime experience. More than a Mastercard moment actually.

For any fan of the motorcycle racing World Championship, attending a race weekend and soaking up the action and atmosphere is the ultimate motorsport experience. Six hyper motorsport enthusiasts were lucky enough to receive a unique and unprecedented opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of motorcycling with MICHELIN VIP hospitality experience at the Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix 2016 held at Sepang International Circuit (SIC) recently.
The aim of the campaign was to celebrate the return of Michelin to MotoGP and to increase its brand awareness in the high performance big bike segment.
The most recent 9th round was another successful one for MotoGP, with Jorge Dovizioso (Ducati Team) claiming the second MotoGP victory of his career which made him the record-breaking ninth different premier class winner in one season. Both Yamaha riders Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo secured second and third on the podium respectively.
A huge crowd of 95,316 – a record for Sepang – braved tough weather conditions and were treated to some very impressive racing throughout the day. The fans at trackside also witnessed Frenchman Johann Zarco sealing the Moto2™ title, which was an impressive way to sign-off his intermediate career before moving to MotoGP in 2017.
Not only were Muhammad Hussaini and Muhammad Ikhmal there to enjoy every breathtaking second of the racing, they got to see much more than the average visitors.
Throughout the weekend, Muhammad Hussaini and Muhammad Ikhmal were at the centre of all the excitement, enjoying the adrenaline-charged atmosphere and experiencing the action that goes on behind the scenes.
Reminiscing over the experience, Muhammad Ikhmal said, “I am a huge MotoGP fan and I’ve followed the championship closely for many years. The MotoGP action during the weekend was fantastic and I was able to watch my longtime idol – Valentino Rossi’s performance up-close. The Michelin team showed us great hospitality during the trip and made it an extra special experience for me.'
“It had always been my ambition to go to the MotoGP, so to win the contest was a dream come true. Being able to get close to the action with the access to Monster Energy team’s garage and the MotoGP VIP village is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that only fans of this great motorcycle sport like me can understand!” said Muhammad Hussaini.
Putu Yudha, Marketing Director of Michelin Malaysia added, “At Michelin, we are committed to creating premium and surprising experiences to reward our loyal customers. Through the MotoGP Digital Campaign, we are able to give our customers a unique and rewarding experience at the world's most popular motorcycle racing series while demonstrating the outstanding quality and performance of our tyres in the MotoGP environment.”
