Hyundai Veloster Turbo officially launched in Malaysia

About darn time. Hyundai Sime Darby Motors finally brings in the Hyundai Veloster Turbo. The Veloster Turbo, is the first Hyundai vehicle to be fitted with the 1.6-litre T-GDI engine delivering power, superior efficiency, lower emissions and higher reliability.  Producing 186 PS horsepower and 265 Nm of torque, the 1.6L Veloster Turbo delivers top speed of 214 kph and acceleration from 0-100 kph in 8 seconds.  Maximum torque is delivered between 1,500 rpm and 4,500 rpm.

Eleven Hyundai Genesis full sized sedans do some ballet on earth and draw or write out a message so big that it could be seen from space. It is considered as the largest tyre track image in the world and measures 5.55sq km.

Land Rover Range Rover Evoque (TECH PACK) RS250 by Project Kahn

This is for you guys who have Range Rover Evoques lying around and need some inspiration on what to do with your ride in order to make it stand out from the others. On a personal point, I do think the Evoque is one of those crossover vehicles that actually look good and work properly well. It is surprisingly grippy on high speed corners even though it actually is quite tall. It actually looks good and handles well too. So give me one of these over an Audi Q5 anytime.

Our Cars: The W204 C180 needs and gets new tyres - Continental MC5

It seems so fast. It has already been two and a half years since I purchased the Mercedes Benz w204 C180. In mileage terms, I have done slightly over 40,000km in it and it now needs new tyres. The car came with expensive Continental CSC5 tyres (which recently came up tops in EVO's tyre of the year recently). That tyre was good in the dry, good in the wet and quite quiet on most road surfaces. It was consistent in its grip and its give. It was predictable too and you could give the C180 a shove out of junctions so that the tail would wag a little when turning left or right. I suppose that this is because it is a top dollar tyre. Top dollar prices too.

A Volkswagen Weekend in Ipoh - 18th & 19th April 2015

This weekend Volkswagen will be at the Stadium Indera Putra Carpark in Ipoh.  The VW roadshow will feature its cars and there will be the usual sales promotions for their cars. Only in South East Asia - ENKIE Alloy wheels

I saw this at a local tyre shop earlier today. It looks like I have stumbled on the now classic 15 inch Enkei RP01 alloy wheel here. I thought that this would be a good replacement to the tired looking wheels that are on the Proton Wira I maintain. Of course, upon closer examination you can make out that they are ENKIE and not ENKEI. The genuine RP01 had the words ENKEI at the same spot as this set of wheels.

VW Malaysia and Cergaz Autohaus to launch the first Volkswagen Technical Service Centre in Malaysia

Volkswagen Malaysia has partnered with authorised dealer Cergaz Autohaus to launch Volkswagen Technical Service Centre – the first of its kind in Malaysia.


The centre, which is based on Jalan Sungai Penchala in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, is equipped to deal with repairs and after-sales service for all non-commercial Volkswagen vehicles, regardless of age or model.

Ford Malaysia announces record quarterly sales

Good news. Ford announces all time record monthly sales of 1,818 units and a record quarterly sales of 4,611 units. They credit strong industry momentum due to a surge in demand ahead of GST implementation.

A very Malaysian thing, trying to secure on something before the unsure sets in. Things would get back to normal slightly now that GST prices have been decided upon.

But do take advantage of Ford Malaysia's latest sales rebates - up to RM10,000 off on some models.

Truck News: Volvo Trucks Malaysia Achieves Significant Growth in Sales For 2014

Volvo Trucks Malaysia has achieved 38.5% growth in truck sales for the performance year of 2014, marking its most robust growth rate recorded in the last 15 years. The company sold a total of 451 units of trucks, out of which 422 units were Volvo trucks and 29 units were Renault trucks. The growth has further boosted Volvo Trucks’ competitiveness gains here, driving upwards its market share and rendering it the number one position in the European heavy duty commercial vehicle segment in Malaysia.

What does this tell us? 2014 has been quite a good year for those doing transportation as there is either expansion or replacement of truck fleets. Logistics is a big thing in this region and I am quite glad that we're still in the loop when it comes to international and regional trade even with the slightly sordid picture that's being painted by some about Malaysia. Take note people and let's keep the momentum going.

BMW Group Classic at the upcoming Techno Classica 2015...and the 30th Anniversary of the E30 M3

BMW Group is participating in the upcoming Techno Classica 2015 Show for classic cars. This time around, they are paying tribute to their 'young classics' and some from their motorsport past. You can read the official press release below for the cars that will be on display but the main intention I am putting this up is because of the eye catching graphics you see in here. I like the wordings too. Stupendous marketing folks... extremely stupendous. Please guess which BMW are featured too.

Ford Sales Promotion on the Focus, Fiesta and Ecosport.

Hello folks. Ford has just started sales promotions on the Ford Focus Titanium+ and Sport+ models. These models get a RM10,000 rebate off the retail price. Then you have rebates (discounts) on the Ford Fiesta 1.5L and the Ford EcoSport mini SUV too. These two cars are offered with a rebate of RM8,000 off the sticker price.

Mercedes Benz launches new base petrol C160,new C300 as well as new C200 4Matic models

In a nutshell, Mercedes Benz have launched new W205 C-class models over in Europe. What's interesting are the petrol versions for us here in Malaysia and those without the all-wheel drive setup. This is what MB Malaysia could bring in the near future for us here.

C160 - 1.6liter turbocharged petrol engine with 129hp, 210Nm. 0-100kmh in 9.6seconds coupled to either a 6 speed manual or a 7 speed automatic. This sits below the C180 with the same engine but a higher state of tune. Bring this or the C180 in MB Malaysia. Even if the prices clash with the CLA200. Why deprive Malaysians of base models that help us save some cash yet still have some luxury.

Three 2015 Red Dot Design Awards for Volkswagen

And now, Volkswagen wins three Red Dot Design Awards in the Product Design category with the Volkswagen Passat, Volkswagen Passat Variant and the Volkswagen Golf Sportsvan. We should be receiving the Passat soon (but not the Passat Variant - which is the station wagon Passat). As for the Golf Sportsvan, nope. Not at the moment too.

Do you know that bidding for a car, bus, van or whatever item is one way of buying your new (most probably used)toy? Or another way to get rid of your stuff. There, you can put up anything of real value for sale. If you have machinery, boats, tractors, airplanes and automobiles you can use their services to auction it off. I got to see some rare older 4x4 as well as try out a 2006 BMW X5 3.0 which is up for auction soon.
