Truck News: Volvo Trucks 2015 Malaysian Fuelwatch Challenge winner announced

Mats Nilsson, Managing Director of Volvo Malaysia flagging off the Final round of the Volvo Fuelwatch Challenge 2015 in Shah Alam on 22 August 2015

Volvo Trucks (Volvo), which operates under Volvo Malaysia, has proudly revealed the Malaysian winner of its Fuelwatch Challenge 2015 at a Gala Dinner held at the Dorsett Grand Subang last Saturday. Volvo Trucks’ annual Fuelwatch Challenge was held as a training and competition for truck drivers and it offers the participants tons of skill knowledge and information, equipping truckers with the ability to churn out the best fuel consumption possible for their vehicles. This is achieved through a process that encompasses a comprehensive approach and setting the right ergonomics between man and machine for maximum output, with minimum fuel that leads to the best vehicle productivity and increased awareness on safety. i.e fast is not always efficient, too slow is also not efficient but a certain sweet spot.

Truck News: Volvo Trucks releases five new features for rough terrain

Volvo Trucks releases five new features for rough terrain

Volvo Trucks continues to improve productivity within construction by releasing another five new features, including Volvo Dynamic Steering for dual front axles and increased front axle loads. This further highlights Volvo Trucks’ special attention to the construction segment.

Volvo Dynamic Steering reduces vibration and filters out bumps penetrating from the
road surface to the steering wheel. Steering becomes smoother and lighter, making
things easier for the driver and reducing the risk of work-related injuries to the neck,
shoulders and back.

Truck News: Volvo Trucks Malaysia Achieves Significant Growth in Sales For 2014

Volvo Trucks Malaysia has achieved 38.5% growth in truck sales for the performance year of 2014, marking its most robust growth rate recorded in the last 15 years. The company sold a total of 451 units of trucks, out of which 422 units were Volvo trucks and 29 units were Renault trucks. The growth has further boosted Volvo Trucks’ competitiveness gains here, driving upwards its market share and rendering it the number one position in the European heavy duty commercial vehicle segment in Malaysia.

What does this tell us? 2014 has been quite a good year for those doing transportation as there is either expansion or replacement of truck fleets. Logistics is a big thing in this region and I am quite glad that we're still in the loop when it comes to international and regional trade even with the slightly sordid picture that's being painted by some about Malaysia. Take note people and let's keep the momentum going.

The Sarawak market isn't necessarily small as Sibu itself is currently the second highest revenue collector after the central region of Peninsular Malaysia in terms of parts sale for them.

The Volvo Trcuks dealership is situated at a strategic location along the main transport flow and the Rejang river barge. The facility also boasts a complete Volvo customer experience as driver waiting lounge, free wireless internet access, reading materials and complimentary beverages are all part of the company’s complete offering of aftermarket experience.

Volvo Trucks Launches the Fuelwatch 2014 and Driver Development Programme

Volvo Trucks are an interesting bunch of people in that they build really cool trucks and that they have got lots of value added benefits for their customers. Yesterday they launched the Fuelwatch 2014 competition and Driver Development Programme for their customers. This competition has been going on for about 5 years here in Malaysia and it basically educates the participating drivers (and lorry owners) about how to drive safely in an economical and environmentally friendly matter. Very important as lorries actually make up a whole lot of carbon emissions in any country, delivering goods everywhere throughout the region.

The event was officiated by Encik Mohamed bin Dalib, Director of Automotive Engineering Division and Road Transport Department, Malaysian Ministry of Transport who commended Volvo’s efforts. As the transportation industry expands, it becomes more apparent that we need to also increase the quality of our truck drivers by engaging them through training programmes such as these, so as to enhance overall safety, fuel efficiency, reduction of CO2 emission and optimise uptime.
