I visited auctioneers Fleet Management Solution Sdn Bhd in Shah Alam sometime last week. Do you know that bidding for a car, bus, van or whatever item is one way of buying your new (most probably used)toy? Or another way to get rid of your stuff. There, you can put up anything of real value for sale. If you have machinery, boats, tractors, airplanes and automobiles you can use their services to auction it off. I got to see some rare older 4x4 as well as try out a 2006 BMW X5 3.0 which is up for auction soon.
The beauty of auctioning your item is that everything is done transparently as prospective buyers actually fight by bidding for the product. The beauty for prospective buyers is that the prices set by the auctioneers are usually below market price. Lots of companies use auction centers to dispose of their assets in a transparent method. Companies usually like auctions as they may get a better price rather than just letting it go to a used car dealer directly and that someone actually settles the paperwork for them. And for the public, they may get a car with at least RM20,000 from the market price if you are a successful bidder. Of course, your competitors during the auction may be used car dealers who like bidding to replenish their stocks.
I spoke to head honcho Mr. Adlis Muazzam Shah who is a licensed auctioneer and CEO of this setup. Anyone can bid for any of the items set for auction. Anyone can also sell their stuff via auction for a nominal fee. The setup is pretty simple but impressive. It is located at the Telekom Complex in Section 17, Shah Alam. They have just a few cabins made out of containers as their offices but about 103,000sq ft worth of parking space to store stuff.
The cars up for auction in the centre range from earlier mentioned BMW X5 as well as another one, a recent Toyota Prado, a lot of Proton Personas, a Toyota Camry, a Proton Perdana V6 a lot of 4x4s and a whole lot more. The vehicles are sold on an as-is where-is basis. But most (not all) are driveable. I even had a go at the light brown circa 2006 BMW X5 3.0 you see in the pictures below. The 3.0liter 6 cylinder engine feels strong and urgent and while ther exterior may need a good polish and some new BMW badges and trimming (to replace the sun worn items), the car feels solid and roadworthy. You may be able to get this 'beauty' only for a steal. I wouldn't know how much it will be going for but I do see some used car dealers selling an '07 X5 3.0 for around RM49,000. So this could be cheaper.
The Camry looks good too. As does the now collectible 1990 Toyota Land Cruiser II shorty you see here. This LC II and even the Toyota Prado is going to be popular among 4x4 enthusiasts, with usually a group of car dealers from Sabah and Sarawak coming down to buy these cars which are considered very much in demand over there.
There is an auction scheduled for the 12th of April, a few days away and if you're interested in buying some ex-company cars, 4x4s, vans for your up and coming pasar malam business or a truck or two, you could head over to Fleet Management Solution's auction center at KOMPLEKS TELEKOM, LOT 1, PERSIARAN JUBLI PERAK,SEC. 17, 40000 SHAH ALAM, SELANGOR DARUL EHSAN.
But head over to their website for actual details like the auction list, security deposit payable to bid and other stuff. - http://fmsauction.com.my/
