Here's our latest video! This time we do a walkaround / walkthrough of the Volvo FH16 Heavy Duty Prime Mover / Hauler belonging to Low Kim Chuan & Sons (LKC), a very established transporter here in Malaysia. They own at least two of these push-pull haulers (you need two - one to pull the heavy trailer and one to push) and both have seen a lot of use by the company. We were given the opportunity to film one of these trucks by Volvo Trucks Malaysia at their Headquarters in Shah Alam, with the blessing from LKC via Volvo Truck's PR people.
Anyway, have a look at the video. The Volvo FH16 610 is powered by a 16,000cc turbodiesel engine in Euro3 version (the FH16 750 couldn't be brought in here due to Malaysian not having Euro5 and above). It still makes 610hp and a massive 2,800Nm of torque. More than enough for the job actually when coupled to the i-Shift 14 speed transmission with crawler gears to slowly push, or pull along over 300 to 500 tonnes worth of cargo. The FH16 750 in 2016 actually was filmed hauling 750 tonnes of cargo for a promotional video, so even this 610hp version is capable enough.
What I really love about this truck is the Globetrotter Sleeper specified cabin. You can stand in it and it has two bunk beds for those long haul journeys. It is also fully equipped with the usual safety features too like all trucks sold here in Malaysia.
Watch the video folks! Quite a nice truck to look at.
