The establishment of Hino Total Support Customer Center (HTSCC) in Sendayan can be considered as one of the value added benefits for customers and those in the region. The center helps companies and their drivers improve in terms of cost, range and quality of services in their business, and also the acknowledgment of road safety. All with a place to conduct proper driver training in every aspect possible.
The HTSCC is currently the only training center for commercial vehicle industry here in Malaysia. It is also the first Hino training center to be built outside of Japan. As such, Hino sees Malaysia as having the potential in developing further, with the company offering continuous support to local commercial vehicle industry.
Since it began operations in 2015, HTSCC has been constantly updating its programs and increasing the list of training courses according to the industry needs. So at HTSCC, customers and drivers have the opportunity to undergo training programs that are emphasized on safety driving skills, safety and eco-cien driving, driver familiarisation and so forth. All these curricular and practical trainings are aimed to minimize life-time cost by increasing up-timed and decreasing operational cost. These courses will be updated from time to time as being a Toyota Group company, Hino practises Kaizen, or Continuous Improvement,
This is a fully fledged training center with its own circuit where the truck and bus drivers can be trained. It has a medium speed banked circuit, a slope, an area with a wet test area as well as a many turns and junctions with traffic signs like a regular road. Drivers do not have to go outside to train as it is fully integrated. There are also fully equipped classrooms that can also be used to teach the theory of driving techniques as well as for other technical support training.
The HTSCC is one of those catalysts that Hino Malaysia says that could change the mindset of Malaysian truck and bus drivers. According to Hino Malaysia, the company is able to reach its goal in after-sales values and bringing up the awareness on safer roads involving commercial vehicles, as the training center had received an encouraging number of trainees that underwent HTSCC training programs throughout 2018. As such, it enters 2019 with a positive attitude on continuously improving its customer experience.
Since its establishment, HTSCC has received continuous support and encouraging responses regularly from Hino customers and that word has spread amongst the Malaysian logistics industry. According to Hino Malaysia, their customers have stated that the HTSCC allows constant exposure to drivers on the importance of safety driving skills and the right techniques on vehicle operation, which ultimately will bring understanding on fuel-saving consumption and expertise to reduce the risk of an accident to occur. The current generation of transport operators are slowly warming up to the importance of driver training with the emphasis on road safety, and HTSCC is at the forefront of this.
“When road accidents happen, apart from the tragic loss of lives, not many people are aware of the cost to businesses. These costs can be in the form of repairing the said vehicle, the insurance paid out to the affected families, the domino effect and disruption to business flow when traffic came to a halt and most importantly the reputation cost to the said company or brand and the country in general,” said Ken Iwamoto, Managing Director of Hino Motor Sales Malaysia.
Hino Malaysia believes, that the country will be one of the developed countries with minimal road hazard cases and injuries on the nation’s highways so the company's move to set up the HTSCC seems to be paying out its dividends. Four years down the road, the training center has definitely been a focal point for the Malaysian commercial vehicle industry and over 10,000 commercial vehicle operators and drivers have benefited from it. It is hoped that these drivers learn from what they have been trained on and that many more will benefit from the programs run by HTSCC in the future.
