I have been slowly going through news items that have been sent to me over the past few weeks. The recent Chinese New Year holiday season has been quite hectic with many launch events, open houses and a whole lot of food. This piece of news regarding the Perodua Myvi has been sitting in my email for a bit and it is only now I had the time to digest it. Basically, the Perodua Myvi has achieved another milestone, where over 100,000 units of the third-generation model already on the road as of 12th February 2019. This was a car that has been launched at the end of 2017, mind you.
A whole lot of new Perodua Myvi cars out there. Perodua say that the Myvi model is a Malaysian icon. Personally, I think that the car symbolises affordable, reliable, spacious (for its size) transport for the masses. It is also a classless car in many ways, as the Myvi, in all of its three generations have been, and are being bought by people from all walks of life, from the very rich to the Regular Johans and Jasmines. This is why the new Myvi sold so many in such a short time. Everyone is comfortable driving one, everywhere.
“We are glad to announce that since the third-generation Perodua Myvi’s launch in November 2017, we have delivered over 100,000 of them to happy customers – that’s an average of over 1,560 units a week,” said Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director, Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin.
Dato' Dr Zahari also added that customer feedback has very positive. Many of their customers liked the Myvi’s looks, practicality, ease to drive, low running costs thanks to its good fuel economy and economical maintenance, generous space despite its compact size and the Myvi's advanced features usually only found in more premium cars.
“The Perodua Myvi is by far the most successful model in our history. The original Myvi launched in 2005 into a market then dominated by sedans. By 2013 it had overtaken the Kancil’s all-time sales (708,000 units from 1994 to 2009) and to date, we have sold nearly 1.1 million Myvis altogether,” Dato’ Dr Zahari continued.
However, while they've put over 100,000 on the road, there are still a mountain of orders for the 3rd Generation Myvi. Orders for the third-generation Myvi have reached a cumulative 150,000, and Perodua
continues to work hard to fulfil those orders as properly and promptly as it can. The demand is really sky high - which is actually the reason for this news release actually. Perodua actually wishes to let us people who write about things that happen in the automotive industry that they're not standing still and are trying their best to make sure everyone who ordered get their Myvi.
“We thank all Malaysians for welcoming the Myvi into your homes with open arms – it really encourages and motivates us to keep improving so we can serve you better. At Perodua, we never forget that we are a People First company,” Dato’ Dr Zahari added.
On the same note, which is vehicle sales, Perodua sold 227,243 cars in 2018, making it Malaysia’s leading carmaker for the 13th consecutive year. The company has sold nearly 3.5 million cars since 1994.
