Kia Malaysia Launches the Kia Picanto GT-Line - Sportier Looks for Kia's Good Looking A Segment Hatchback

Naza Kia Malaysia, has officially unveiled the new range topping Kia Picanto GT-Line. This top specced variant comes in looking sportier than ever with an aggressive looking bodykit, 16inch alloy wheels, sports pedals on the inside and a  RM57,888 (on-the-road without insurance) pricetag. Not too shabby for a fully kitted out A-segment hatchback.

According to Dato’ Samson Anand George, Group CEO, Automotive Group and Naza Corporation Holdings Sdn Bhd, the Kia Picanto GT-line follows the successful launch of the Kia Picanto 1.2 EX model last year. It allows more variety to their customers.

Dato' Samson said,  "Naza Kia Malaysia is thrilled to introduce a new sporty variant of the innovative A-segment car which has stolen the hearts of Malaysian road users. We are confident the Kia Picanto GT-Line will receive no less attention on the road with its extra stylish appeal and nimble performance.”

The New Picanto GT-Line gets the new colour accents on the full body kit and Kia’s signature ‘tiger nose’ grille up front. At the rear are sporty-looking dual exhaust pipes to make sure the little Picanto looks like a 'baby GT' it is supposed to be. Completing the exterior look are 16-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights and fog lamps and a shark-fin antenna.

As for the interior, the Picanto GT-Line gets sports pedals, a large 7.0-inch floating touchscreen houses Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ ready functionality for full smartphone integration. The Picanto GT-Line is also equipped as standard with a sporty D-cut steering wheel, a rear-view parking camera, wireless smartphone charger and USB port. It also comes with Full Auto Temperature Control (FATC) and keyless entry.

It comes with a 1,248cc 4 cylinder petrol engine which makes 84Ps. Torque is 121Nm and it powers the Picanto's front wheels via a 4 speed automatic transmission.

In terms of safety equipment, the small city car is constructed using Kia's Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) body construction. It also comes with six standard airbags (dual front, side and curtain airbags). Being a car sold in 2019, the Picanto GT-Line comes with active safety featuressuch as standard-fit Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), to ensure stability under braking and cornering.

It also comes with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) which is important in urban environments (and while parking anywhere) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) which prevents rolling back while on a slope when releasing the brakes.

For an A-Segment car, the New Picanto features class-leading cabin space, with more leg- and head-room than many others in the A-segment. In fact, it somewhat sits in the middle of the A and B segment in terms of overall size, so it isn't a tiny little car. Boot capacity is 255 litres (VDA) with 60:40 split-folding rear seats, which can fold flat to increase capacity to 1,010 litres, which is impressive for a city car.

The 2019 Kia Picanto GT-Line is offered in Titanium Silver, Clear White and an exclusive Aurora Black Pearl colour. It is priced from RM57,888 (on-the-road without insurance), and comes with five years warranty with unlimited mileage (t&c applies).
