The Malaysian Finals of the 2018/2019 Volkswagen Retail Qualification World Championship (RQWC) Was Held for Volkswagen Dealership Sales & Aftersales Staff

Recently, the Volkswagen Training Academy here in Glenmarie, Shah Alam hosted the National Finals of the 2018/2019 Volkswagen Retail Qualification World Championship (RQWC). To those who aren't aware of what this competition is all about the Volkswagen RQWC is a global assessment competition that consists of online tests, theoretical and practical assessments, and exams that is open to all employees of Volkswagen dealerships, especially services advisors, master technicians and parts service advisors.

The purpose of the Volkswagen RQWC is to help strengthen dealer networks, improve quality and customer satisfaction in addition to providing insights on global standards and practices. It also rewards their staff in terms of recognition among their peers aside from the chance to meet and network with one another. For the 2018/2019 Championship, a total of 311 participants from the Volkswagen network in Malaysia took part in the online test, and a total of 27 top performers were chosen for the National Finals. Most of this happened last year with the final 27 participants consisting of 10 service advisors, 10 parts advisors and 7 master technicians.

The competition is one which is conducted with the full blessing of Volkswagen AG. The syllabus for the RQWC National Finals are provided by Volkswagen AG, while execution and evaluation were conducted locally by a panel of judges from Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM). The 2018/2019 National Finals, which took place from the 19 to 21 February at the Volkswagen Training Academy was broken down into several modules for the respective categories over three days.

Services advisors were tested on soft skills, dialogue reception and aftersales systems, whereas parts advisors were tested on role-play scenarios, aftersales systems and underwent a written exam. The Master technicians were tested on dialogue reception, diagnostic competency, technical professional competency and systematic methodology. In short, those that participate have to understand and have knowledge of all systems in the sales or aftersales environment of Volkswagen.

This time around, the champions of the RQWC National Finals are Mr Lu Weng Jen from MHV Autohaus (Volkswagen Gombak) in the Service Advisor Category; Mr John Leow Zhi Kuan MHV Autohaus (Volkswagen Gombak) in the Parts Services Category; and Mr Yeoh Chun Ping from Goh Brother Motors (Volkswagen Juru) in the Master Technician category.

With the names of the winners above you could say that the two Volkswagen Dealerships could have the best sales and service personnel for the brand. So aside from winning prizes, the winners are also seen among their peers as the best in the business. Much like a great big pat on the back and some bragging rights. This is also as important as monetary prizes too as recognition is a good thing in terms of self improvement.

Erik Winter, Managing Director of VPCM said that participation in global assessments are a way to continuously ensure excellence in local standards." It goes without saying that our customers are our top priority– and this is but one of the major initiatives we are taking to uphold our Volkswagen Cares philosophy to provide value-added, quality products and more importantly, exceptional service to our customers across our network.“
