Ford Malaysia, via Sime Darby Auto Connexion Launches the 2018 Improved Ford Everest SUV in Trend & Titanium Variants

Ford's authorised distributor here in Malaysia, Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) recently launched a the latest version of the Ford Everest mid-size SUV. The new 2018 Everest gets better equipment and a slightly different grille. It features upgraded driver assistance, equipment levels and improved vehicle dynamics (suspension tuning) that allows it perform better on and off-road.

The Everest gets a new grille treatment incorporating a secondary grille texture against the Everest’s chrome trimmings. The Everest Titanium features a new 20-inch split-spoke alloy wheel design. Of course, not that much of a change as the Everest has only been around since 2015 and still sports a lot of the current Ford styling language.

The new Ford SUV is available in the Trend variant and the Titanium variant. They are priced at RM228,888.00 and RM258,888.00 respectively. Colour options include Diffused Silver, Sunset, Meteor Grey and Shadow Black.

The mid-sized SUV gets Ford’s new-generation 2.0L Bi-turbo diesel engine which makes 213PS and and impressive 500Nm torque from 1,750rpm onwards. It is coupled with an advanced 10-speed automatic transmission which offers improved flexibility and a quieter, more comfortable drive. This is the same engine and transmission that you are going to find in the upcoming Ford Ranger Raptor.

With 500Nm on tap and available from a low 1,750rpm, the new engine delivers greater torque spread and when combined with the 10-speed’s close ratios it actually reduces gaps in power and acceleration to make steep, slippery hill-climbs much easier in your Everest Titanium. Ten gears folks!

Ford has also revised the suspension geometry and settings to ensure better off-road as well as better on-road performance. The thing about Ford SUVs and Pick-Up Trucks are its handling. They perform very well for something that is supposed to be utilitarian in nature. Highway cruising speeds in a Ford SUV is usually a refined driving experience and it is also no slouch on more challenging surfaces too.

The new Ford Everest  gets hands-free power lift gate, SYNC ® 3 infotainment system, keyless entry and push-start button as standard.

The hands-free power lift gate, a feature that opens and closes the lift gate by waving your foot under the rear bumper and provides enhanced convenience. If your hands are full, a simple wave of your foot under the rear bumper opens the liftgate automatically. Aside from that, the new Everest Titanium has extra space available at a press of a button. These includes eight-way power front seats and power-fold third-row seating.

The SYNC ® 3 infotainment system is equipped in both Ford Everest variants. It features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. and comes with Bluetooth, 10 speakers, and an 8.0-inch full color touchscreen. SYNC ® 3 enables use of Waze and Google Maps and has improved voice recognition. So it has full connectivity and allows for safer driving by allowing the drive to keep their eyes on the roads, hands on the wheel.

The new Ford Everest features advanced driver assistance technology:
-Cruise Control with Adjustable Speed Limiter
-Multi-intelligent Instrument Cluster – allowing drivers to view what features Everest is using at any time with just a glance
-Terrain Management System – giving the vehicle the capability to tackle any challenging terrain
-Electronic Stability Control
-BLIS – Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert
-MyKey ®

The new Everest is equipped with seven airbags in both the Everest Trend and Titanium. These are front seat driver airbags, passenger airbags, seat-mounted side airbags, side-curtain airbags, and even an airbag for the driver’s knee.
