Ford Malaysia Will Launch the New Ranger XL, XLT, Wildtrak AND Most Importantly, the Ford Ranger Raptor at the end of October 2018!

Recently, Ford Malaysia, via their authorised distributors Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC),  announced that the newly refreshed Ford Ranger is scheduled for launch in Malaysia at the end of this month. The line-up will consist of the Ranger XL, XLT, Wildtrak, and the eagerly awaited Ford Ranger Raptor.

The Raptor is the one that most of us are awaiting as it is takes its place at the top of the range, even sitting above the already popular Wildtrak variant. The Ranger Raptor will be the most aggressive looking Ranger you can buy from Ford and will be the one that normal pickup trucks will cower in fear when it passes by. Well, a little exaggeration is always good especially when the real thing is actually quite a stunner in the first place.

The south-east asian specced Raptor will get Ford's new 2.0liter bi-turbo (twin turbo) engine and a new automatic transmission that has a 10 gears (wow!). It will make 213ps and 500Nm of torque. Whilst the engine isn't as large as the 3.2liter Wildtrak, it makes a heck of a lot of power and will also save you road tax also with that smaller 2.0liter engine.

But aside from the Raptor, SDAC will also be introducing the Ranger XLT+ variant to the Malaysia market. The XLT+ adds more equipment to the already well equipped Ranger XLT. Ford basically wants to plug every niche in terms of what they can offer their customers in terms of pickup trucks. With this new range, they could very well be doing so.

According to Ford and SDAC, there should be a Ford Ranger to suit every customer’s needs and lifestyle with this upcoming line-up.  We are actually quite curious on how the Raptor will actually look like on Malaysian roads.

We shall see that soon.
