Tata Motors Distributor in Malaysia, DRB-HICOM Commercial Vehicles Delivers Tata Super Ace Trucks to Lazada's LEL Express Contractors - Reza Sadon Enterprise and CFD 74 Enterprise

Recently, DRB-HICOM Commercial Vehicles (DHCV) the authorised distributor for Tata Motors commercial vehicles in Malaysia, officially handed over a unit respectively of the Tata Super Ace 1 ton truck to two driver contractors of LEL Express, the logistic arm of Lazada Malaysia. The two contractors are Reza Sadon Enterprise and CFD 74 Enterprise.

As LEL Express is basically the local delivery service of Lazada Malaysia (or last mile delivery services to the customer), the purchase of the Tata Super Ace truck is quite a milestone for the newly launched model here in Malaysia. Lazada is a leading e-commerce platform in Malaysia (and the region actually), so the introduction of Tata Super Ace to Lazada's logistic support is a milestone for Tata here in the country.

The Tata Super Ace is a one ton mini truck designed and built with intra and inter-city transportation in mind. The trucks were delivered to Reza Sadon Enterprise and CFD 74 Enterprise with a customised box body, to cater for the needs of e-commerce delivery services.

According to Antoine Comar, Country Manager of LEL Express, Lazada Malaysia believes the acquisition of the Tata Super Ace will bode well for their contractors. This addition will contribute to Lazada's promise of the best end-to-end experience for our customers and they are confident that with the continuous support of Tata Motors and distributors DHCV, that they will be able to further optimise our delivery operations.

The handing over of the two trucks is also timely as LEL Express is currently gearing up towards Lazada’s biggest online event of the year - the 11.11 sale on 11 November 2018. Last year's 11.11 shopping extravaganza saw more than 10 million visits on Lazada Malaysia’s mobile application and website within 24 hours. Lazada reported 1,400 transactions per minute and their merchants selling over 50 times their normal daily volume. Lazada believes that the numbers are expected to grow even further this year. Such is the popularity of online shopping these days.

According to Rudrarup Maitra, Head – International Business, Commercial Vehicles, Tata Motors Limited, the delivery of Tata Super Ace to the contractors of LEL Express is an important milestone for Tata Motors growth in Malaysia and ASEAN region. Tata Motors have stated that Malaysia is one of their key growth markets in South-east Asia and they are pleased with the response to the recently launched Tata Super Ace and the Ultrarange of light trucks by DHCV.

The Tata Super Ace is currently the only small truck fitted with a diesel engine in its class here in Malaysia. It has a 1405 cc diesel turbo charged engine that gives more pulling power with better fuel efficiency as well as having that diesel durability. The chassis is also designed to be tough and durable, engineered to support heavy loads as well as allowing long-term saving to its users, making it a perfect last mile transport solution. A small diesel engine usually punches above its weight in terms of pulling power and it very suitable for commercial vehicle usage.

According to Tata Motors, the Tata Super Ace has been a preferred choice for last-mile transportation with a footprint spanning 28 countries across South Asia, Africa and the ASEAN. Tata Motors have to date sold over a million units since it was first launched in 2005.

Tata Motors customers in Malaysia are currently being served by a network of 24 outlets located at strategic locations and in major townships, nationwide. DHCV aims to expand this reach in tandem with sales and market growth.

The handover ceremony was witnessed by RohimeShafie, Head of Automotive Distribution, Manufacturing & Engineering, DRB-HICOM Berhad, Rudrarup Maitra, Head – International Business, Commercial Vehicles, Tata Motors Limited and Arpit Srivastava, Vice-President, Head of Strategic Partnership, LEL Express. Mohd Syahrul Yusuf, Chief Operating Officer of DHCV presented the mock keys to the new owners of the Tata Super Ace trucks.
