DRB-HICOM and PROTON PRESENTS CARS TO MALAYSIAN OLYMPIC MEDALLISTS OF RIO 2016

 
Earlier today, DRB-HICOM and PROTON Holdings Bhd had presented a total of eight cars to the nation's Olympians who had succeeded in winning the medals at the recent Rio Olympic Games. Proton hopes that with the record achievement (our best performance at the Olympics to date) at the recent Rio 2016 Olympic Games, more talented Malaysians will be inspired to achieve greater heights and make our country proud. The cars are a big gesture of appreciation indeed and should be an incentive to those who want to reach greater heights.


A Proton Perdana 2.4L was presented to Datuk Lee Chong Wei for his achievements as the most successful Malaysian Olympian in history with a total of 3 silver medals from three Olympic Games. The first silver medal achievement was attained at the Beijing 2008 Olympics followed by the second silver medal at the London 2012 Olympics and the third silver medal at the recent Rio 2016 Olympics.

Other silver medallists, Pandelela Rinong and Cheong Jun Hoong (Women’s Synchronised 10m Platform diving), Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying (Badminton Mixed Doubles), and Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong (Badminton Men’s Doubles) were each presented with a Proton Suprima S 1.6L Turbo Premium.

Azizulhasni Awang, the first Malaysian cyclist to win a medal at the Olympics, who is also fondly known as “Azizul the Pocket Rocket,” received the all-new Proton Persona which was just launched last month, for his bronze achievement. He was unable to attend the event. 

All of the above were given the cars by PROTON In appreciation of their sterling performance at the recent Rio Olympic Games, 

The event was graced by the Minister of Youth and Sports, The Honourable Mr. Khairy Jamaluddin, accompanied by Chef-de-Mission of the Malaysian Olympic contingent, Tan Sri Mohamed Al-Amin Abdul Majid. Also in attendance was Group Managing Director of DRB-HICOM and PROTON Chairman, Dato' Sri Syed Faisal Albar.

SUBANG JAYA, 14 September 2016 – In appreciation to the achievements recorded by the Malaysian Olympic contingent at the recent Rio Olympic Games, DRB-HICOM and PROTON Holdings Bhd (“PROTON” or “the Company”) presented eight cars to the nation's heroes who succeeded in winning the medals for the country.

The event was graced by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Yang Berhormat Encik Khairy Jamaluddin, accompanied by Chef-de-Mission of the Malaysian Olympic contingent, Tan Sri Mohamed Al-Amin Abdul Majid. Also in attendance was Group Managing Director of DRB-HICOM and PROTON Chairman, Dato' Sri Syed Faisal Albar.
