Show sponsor AIG Insurance will be educating motorists about usage-based insurance whilst another sponsor, DealerTech, specialises in a sharing-app that turns a smartphone into a powerful dealer and car sale information system. It will customise this system for car brands exhibiting at the Autoshow as well as customise a voting system for the People's Choice Car of the Year 2016. Visitors to the Malaysia Autoshow are invited to download the app at the Autoshow and vote for their Car of the Year.

Aside from the usual drumming up of automotive sales during this tough economic period, MAI's aim for the auto show include creating public awareness about the industry as a whole and also specifically the aim for Malaysian to be the regional hub for Energy Efficient Vehicle assembly in the ASEAN region.

By 2020, it is projected that some 85% of vehicles produced in the country will be energy efficient vehicles (EEVs), making Malaysia the regional hub for EEVs in Asean. In line with this, the Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI), will set up a special booth at the Autoshow to share its vision as well as create awareness to help turn Malaysia into a regional base for Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) production.

There was also a mention at the press conference by Dato’ Madani Sahari, Chief Executive Officer, Malaysia Automotive Institute that a Malaysian-China Joint Venture company (which has set up operations in Glenmarie, Shah Alam) will be previewing its fully electric prototype vehicle at the Auto Show. So aside from the usual sales oriented stuff, MAI has promised something slightly different which it hopes would usher more EEV usage in Malaysia..

The Malaysia Autoshow 2016 is expected to attract 100,000 visitors.

The National Automotive Policy 2014 (NAP 2014) redirected the Malaysian automotive

industry, taking the nation into the modern era of Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEVs).

By 2020, it is projected that some 85% of vehicles produced in the country will be

automotive show in Malaysia with manufacturers and distributors of cars, bikes, trucks

as well as aftermarket dealers exhibiting their products.

More than 150 exhibitors from renowned vehicle brands, aftermarket and accessory

products will lay out their extensive product range during the event.

The Autoshow has also been an enabler of car sales, matching car buyers with car

brands and their models that span a broad spectrum of budgets, and where show

visitors also get to view all the newly launched cars for the year, under one roof.
