Happenings: At the Renault Sport Formula One Pre-Race Party at the Renault Flagship Showroom

I attended Renault's pre-race Formula One party yesterday. The event was organised by TC Euro Cars (TCEC), the sole franchise holder of Renault cars in Malaysia over at the Renault Showroom and lepak place over at Section 13 Petaling Jaya. A total of 120 lucky F1 fans yesterday were treated to a special appearance by Renault Sport Formula One™ team drivers – Kevin Magnussen (middle- right) and Jolyon Palmer (middle-left).

The meet-and-greet session was part of a pre-race party held at the flagship Renault showroom in Petaling Jaya, in conjunction with the 2016 Malaysian Grand Prix this weekend. This year marks Renault Sport's return into Formula One. So things are a little more special for the brand here especially with the Sepang Circuit being on the F1 Calendar.

The drivers were good sports. They basically were patient chaps, answered some questions during the Q&A, signed some autographs, posed for photos and were also asked to try making some 'teh tarik'. Or Pulled Tea if translated directly.

This is Joylon Palmer's race debut year as a F1 driver. Prior to this we was performing third (or reserve) driver duties over at the previous Renault Sport Formula One team iteration when it was called the Lotus F1 Team last year.

As for Kevin Magnussen, he has now joined Renault Sport Formula One after a year without a team despite his strong rookie year performance in 2014 where he managed to score a second placed podium finish at the Australian Grand Prix.

As for the Renault Sport fans, they had fun. Obviously. Food, drinks and games. And gifts too.

Kuala Lumpur, 30 September 2016 – A total of 120 lucky F1 fans yesterday were treated to a special appearance by Renault Sport Formula One™ team drivers – Kevin Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer.

Organised by TC Euro Cars (TCEC), the sole franchise holder of Renault cars in Malaysia, the meet-and-greet session was part of a pre-race party held at the flagship Renault showroom in Petaling Jaya, in conjunction with the 2016 Malaysian Grand Prix this weekend.

The party began with some fun games and there was a buzz of excitement and anticipation as the crowd waited for the arrival of the Renault Sport Formula One™ team drivers.

Magnussen and Palmer received a warm reception when they entered the venue. They then proceeded to hold a short Q&A session with the event host and guests, gave away exclusive Renault Sport merchandise as well as posed for photographs and obliged on autograph requests from lucky fans.

While on stage, both drivers also sportingly participated in two local cultural activities. They tried their hand at making teh tarik and their skill at handling the bamboo dance, much to the delight of the crowd, which encouraged them on with cheers and applause.

More fun and games continued after the drivers made their exit, while guests who were lucky enough to get up close with the drivers compared notes and photos.

“Renault is all about passion for life and we’re delighted to be at the heart of the F1 excitement as the passion for motorsports is also something that is close to our hearts,” said Kuan Kim Luen, CEO, TC Euro Cars Sdn Bhd.

The Renault Sport Formula One™ pre-race party is part of the ‘Renault – Motorsports Is in Our DNA’ campaign, which was initiated to celebrate the brand’s over 115 years of passion in motorsports and return to Formula 1 as a full works team, as well as in conjunction with the 2016 Malaysian Grand Prix.
