The CAs were signed to replace the existing CAs which expired in December 2015. The CAs are renewable once every 3 years. With the spirit of “One Company Mindset” and the “Management-Union as a Team” the renewed CAs marked improved collaboration and understanding between both parties.

According to Proton, even with the restructuring that the company is under going, staff welfare is still paramount. This is true because without people to build the cars, any ongoing turnaround programme will not succeed. That being said, both parties must be aware that both depend on each other's survival. There is a balance that has to be achieved in order for things to move smoothly.
