UMW Toyota Motor reveals their 'Beyond Zero Transformative Initiatives' - Move to Zero Event on until the 28th of February 2024 at Technology Park Malaysia

This, is more of an industry bit of news especially in the sustainability area. UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT), who are the current leaders (in terms of overall sales) non-national automaker, presented its Beyond Zero initiative, which aligns with Toyota's global pursuit of Carbon Neutrality by 2050. The groundbreaking event, taking place from today until 28 February 2024 at the Technology Park Malaysia, presented transformative initiatives that showcased the brand's commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly practices.

Ocean Shipping for parts and components for Volvo Cars switch to Renewable Fuels - Fossil CO2 Emissions for this estimated to be reduced by a massive 84 Per Cent

According to Volvo Cars, thousands of containers of production material for Volvo Cars factories are carried across the world’s oceans on container ships. Like most manufacturers do as it is the cheapest way of getting bulk items from one end to another. However, from now, the container ships used by Volvo Cars are made with renewable fuel instead of traditional fossil fuel. Volvo Cars  are the first to announce such a move. The Swedish company will achieve an immediate reduction in fossil CO2 emissions from intercontinental ocean freight by an estimated 55,000 tonnes over a year. Thus, technically saving many manatees, dolphins and polar bears in a single swoop.

This historical milestone underlines Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s commitment and dedication to manufacturing excellence and innovation in the luxury automotive industry, or in a much broader scale, the Malaysian automotive industry, as a premium brand has been assembling so many vehicles in the country to date.

Pos Malaysia takes delivery of 50 MEV-1 electric motorcycles from MODENAS, AVIS & DRB-HICOM Ez Drive


 Pos Malaysia Berhad (“Pos Malaysia” or “the Group”), the national post and parcel service provider recently received 50 electric motorcycles that will be used by their postmen to deliver mail. This is another step (in terms of logistics) on their journey to be net zero in terms of emissions by 2050. They took delivery of the bikes from Motosikal Dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd (“MODENAS”), the assembler of MEV-1, and DRB-HICOM EZ-Drive Sdn Bhd (“AVIS”), the leasing provider of the MEV-1 programme.

Scania Climate Day - Where Scania Takes A First Step in the New Year 2050 Commitment of Achieving Net-Zero Emissions


On 20th September 2019, Scania conducted a one hour worldwide shutdown to conduct sustainability training for its employees. 20th September has been announced as Scania Climate Day. Aside from that, Scania took another valiant step forward and responded to the call by the United Nations for businesses to step up and take bolder actions in tackling climate change by pledging to the decarbonisation target in line with limiting global warming to 1.5°C. This is the first step in their new 2050 commitment to combat climate change.
