Volvo Car Malaysia Launches the Refreshed XC60 SUV

Volvo Car Malaysia has launched the new 2021/2022aa refresh of the Volvo XC60. They call it “the Smarter XC60”, and it comes with added safety features, a fresh exterior look and more integration with Google Services. As cars these days are an extension of one's smartphone, and since people usually end up using Google, this actually makes sense in terms of a XC60 refresh.

This new Volvo XC60 is the latest that has happened with the arrangement between Volvo Cars and Google. The aim is to provide a first-of-its-kind built in infotainment system, complete with a host of Google Services. An extension of what most of us already do with our smartphones and with the XC60, the popular Volvo SUV will feature a new Digital Services Package consisting of the familiar integrated voice-controlled Google Assistant which enables control of many in-car applications including GoogleMaps. What this allows is hand-free control for the infotainment system so that the driver can focus on driving and not fiddle with the controls.

Other changes to the the new 2021/2022 Volvo XC60 include a new grille, new front bumpers and a new exterior colour option. For the top of the range Recharge T8 variant, it will come with a new 19” 6-multispoke black diamond-cut alloy wheel design, and a Bowers and Wilkins sound system for the interior.

In case you have forgotten, the Volvo XC60 also presents a range of drive modes for you to choose. These are from the Pure Electric mode with zero tailpipe emissions to the preferred by Yours Truly Power mode for spirited driving.

The Volvo XC60 comes with a 4-cylinder 2.0L twin engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission with Geatronic. The petrol engine features supercharger as well as a turbocharger, producing 407hp with 640Nm of torque and when you add the\87hp and 240Nm from the battery, it is actually rapid enough for most people, and able to surprise unsuspecting tailgaters actually. The new Volvo XC60 does 0-100kmh in 5.3 seconds, as well as a fuel efficiency of 2.2 litres per 100km if you are gentle with the loud pedal by making it whisper most of the time.

The new Volvo XC60 is equipped with Volvo’s latest-and-greatest aactive safety systems. These includes the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), with collision avoidance, lane keeping aid, run-off road mitigation, cross traffic alert with auto braking, Blind Spot Information System and a surround view camera.

Being a smartphone connected smart car, as it seems to be from the look of it. You get  the Volvo Car App and Connected Services. This is an application that connects the owner or driver with the Volvo, enabling convenient remote control of several car functions. By simply using your mobile device or voice control, you can remotely pre-climatise your parked car, check car status, lock or unlock the doors and much more.

The new Volvo XC60 is priced from RM325,449.00 and will be available for viewing at all authorised Volvo dealers in Malaysia. Online bookings can also be made through Volvo Car Malaysia’s website. www.volvocars.com/my
