e.MAS - Proton Cars new EV specific brand unveiled today

PROTON today officially revealed its new, EV specific sub-brand, e.MAS. The Proton e.MAS moniker is to be deployed on future EV (electric vehicle) models and is pronounced as the alphabet "e" combined with the word “mas” and not like the word 'emas' which stands for gold in tge Malay language.

Pos Malaysia takes delivery of 50 MEV-1 electric motorcycles from MODENAS, AVIS & DRB-HICOM Ez Drive


 Pos Malaysia Berhad (“Pos Malaysia” or “the Group”), the national post and parcel service provider recently received 50 electric motorcycles that will be used by their postmen to deliver mail. This is another step (in terms of logistics) on their journey to be net zero in terms of emissions by 2050. They took delivery of the bikes from Motosikal Dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd (“MODENAS”), the assembler of MEV-1, and DRB-HICOM EZ-Drive Sdn Bhd (“AVIS”), the leasing provider of the MEV-1 programme.

SCANIA Begins Regional Sales of Battery Electric Trucks for Customers to Comply with ESG Targets


Scania has started sales of battery electric truck in this region. The Battery electric trucks have been introduced for customers’ regional operations to meet their Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) goals. Last Thursday, I attended the first preview for Malaysian customers at Scania Malaysia Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam where we got to see a battery electric Scania truck which will be used in Singapore for garbage collection (which actually suit electric trucks are they offer practical use for stop-start collection for last mile delivery or collection as well as being quieter than any internal combustion engined truck)..[UPDATE - Video of the preview is HERE]

Trucks: The Volvo FL Electric Has Been Launched - Volvo Trucks First All-Electric Truck For Commercial Use


Volvo Trucks have introduced the Volvo FL Electric for sale over in Europe. This is the truck manufacturer's first all-electric truck for commercial use and could be the first manufacturer offering a zero emissions commercial vehicle that can easily be bought and run. The FL Electric is based on the Volvo FL series of trucks and its main applications in urban distribution as well as refuse operations. The FL Electric which will start sales and series production in Europe next year and Volvo Trucks will be at the forefront in coming up with solutions for electrified goods transport in cities with this offering.

Electric Vehicles: Renault Samsung Motors unveils the new SM3 Z.E - Better Range Than Before


This piece of news is slightly interesting even though Renault Samsung Motors are not sold locally here. The Renault Samsung Motors SM3 Z.E is an electric vehicle which is based on the Renault Fluence sold here. It is exactly like the Fluence sedan and the only difference externally are the badging.

GO AUTO signs agreement with FUKUTA ELECTRIC to develop Electric Vehicles & its supply chain in Malaysia

The chaps from Go Auto Manufacturing were recently in Taiwan where they signed a technical agreement. with Fukuta Electric & Machinery Company Ltd. Taiwan (Fukuta) recently to develop the ecosystem for electric vehicles (EV). The agreement is in line with the Malaysian Government's initiative to make Malaysia as a hub for manufacturers and EV components in the ASEAN market.

Electric Vehicles: Renault-Nissan Alliance Hits Milestone of selling 350,000 Electric Vehicles and Maintains Position as Global EV Leader

The Renault-Nissan Alliance is ahead of everyone in terms of electric cars sold globally. They have announced that they have sold 350,000 electric vehicles since December 2010 when they first started selling the Nissan LEAF (pictured above). Now from that 350,000 vehicles,  It has now hit an important milestone as from January to August 2016, they've sold 100,000 EVs in total. Imagine that, 100,000 people bought EVs from either Renault or Nissan throughout the world.
