YESTERDAY was the 28 November 2024, and the day marked an important milestone for BMW Group Malaysia and what I believe is also an important hallmark for the Malaysian automotive industry. The group commemorated the 20th Year Anniversary of the BMW Group Regional Parts Distribution Centre in Malaysia, marking this significant milestone with a landmark expansion of the very modern facility, located at the Free Industrial Zone of the Senai International Airport in Johor Bahru.
One of the oldest Automotive blogs in Malaysia. Since 2006 and going strong. Motoring-Malaysia.blogspot.my is an award winning Malaysian motoring / automotive / car news & reviews website or auto blog. It is where we rant and rave about cars, trucks, buses, motoring, motor vehicles and any interesting automotive industry related stuff. Unswayed in our point of view and darn proud of it! It's not about the numbers...it's about passion.

Industry news: Malaysian automotive vendors keen to collaborate with Japanese counterparts
Recently a total of 44 Japanese automotive vendors and trading companies attended a business matchmaking session with a trade delegation consisting of 25 Malaysian automotive vendors held in Tsu City, Mei Prefecture yesterday. The event was hosted by Hyakugo Bank of Japan. Much like speed-dating in some ways where potential partners get to meet one another and see whether marriage of some sorts is possible. Automotive Industry Opinion: Porsche sold 5,589 cars in South East Asia last year - Malaysia is one of their key markets
Porsche sold about 5,589 Cars over in the South East Asian region in 2016. You may think that 5,000 cars is a small number but this is a premium luxury brand. Each car sold would cost an average of RM400,000 to 700,000 with or without high taxes. Multiply that by 5,000 and you see that is is a significant sum.

Scooter & Industry News: MODENAS Launches 3 scooters - The Modenas Karisma 125, Elegance 250i & KYMCO 250i Downtown
I had nothing better to do last friday afternoon. It was after lunch and I had no appointments as it was friday. No one does appointments on friday after lunch these days (unless your boss is cruel or you are a cruel boss). So anyway, I had an invite from the people at DRB-Hicom to attend the launch of two new scooter models from MODENAS (their motorcycle division basically) - the all-new Karisma 125 and Elegan 250i as well as the launch of the KYMCO 250i Downtown. The Kymco scooter is actually a new model from Modenas' latest principal KYMCO, who make and sell scooters in many parts of the world, and is a market leader in its home-country, Taiwan.
