MITI, or the Ministry of International Trade and Industry Malaysia has announced a new national car project. According to the news (of which the official press release is published below) basically states that this first model will be a completely new model with advanced technology but it will use an existing and proven vehicle platform from the technology partner. The local or anchor company is DreamEDGE Sdn Bhd which does a lot of strategic tie ups in terms of engineering and tech development with Japanese companies. Daihatsu is also the foreign technology partner in this case.

Industry News: Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) and Greentech Malaysia Signs MoU for Low Carbon Mobility Efforts
Recently, the Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) and Greentech Malaysia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) where both parties will work together in order to work towards having lower carbon mobility in Malaysia. The MoU was entered into during the International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM) at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on 11th of October 2017.

MALAYSIA AUTOMOTIVE INSTITUTE (MAI) Launches its Design Centre - A Product of the Malaysian Government, Perodua & Their Vendors
Today marks another milestone in the Malaysian Automotive Industry. The Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI), an agency under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), has officially launched the MAI Design Centre in Rawang, Selangor. The centre is a collaboration between MAI, acting on behalf of the Government of Malaysia, and national car maker Perodua which come into this picture together with their vendors.

The Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) had launched their Resource Centre (MAIRC) over in Bukit Beruntung, Rawang sometime last week. The centre, which was established in partnership with Perodua, Proton and vendors Suria Component SDN. BHD., SIPRO Plastics SDN. BHD. and PHN Industry SDN. BHD. The launching of MAI Resource Centre was officiated by YB Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed, the Minister of International Trade and Industry, on the 24th of January 2017. MAIRC as the focal point for all MAI capacity building programmes.
