BMW Malaysia has officially announced the sale of the locally assembled All-New BMW 330i M Sport sedan. This was originally launched here in fully imported form and now, they have locally assembled the popular premium compact sedan. It now comes in at RM288,800 before insurance.
The 2019 BMW 330i M Sport is assembled in Kulim, Kedah to BMW levels of standard. The plant also assembles eight other models with ten variants in total. BMW Group Malaysia actually uses this assembly hub to export their vehicles to the ASEAN region with cars going to Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. So it allows us here in Malaysia here to have better priced BMWs and also help Malaysia earn some export sales too.
Harald Hoelzl, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia said, “We introduced the seventh generation of the world’s best-selling premium sports sedan earlier this year, raising the bar yet again in its segment. While the fully imported variant has seen over 350 new owners in merely six months, the locally assembled BMW 330i M Sport introduced today is set to continue writing the success story of the ultimate sports sedan.”
“Beyond providing our customers a wider mix of products in addition to our offering of fully imported models, we are pleased to once again deliver on our promise to growing our investments in the country as Malaysia continues to grow as a hub for the BMW Group in South East Asia.” added Hoelzl.
It does seem that BMW is pushing the higher specified 3 Series first as if you look at their website as at 18th September 2019, they are still offering the local assembled 318i and 330e PHEV cars. Most likely due to local assembly kits still available and the usual requirements for local assembly gets finalilsed. Eventually you will see the new lower rung variants being introduced here once all of these get settled.
The New BMW 330i M Sport already available for test drive at all authorised BMW dealerships nationwide.
But for now, here are the specs of the new 2019 BMW 330 M Sport CKD (Good thing is that specification and equipment levels are exactly the same as the outgoing fully imported variant)
Firstly, note that colour offerings for the New BMW 330i M Sport include Alpine White, Black Sapphire, and Mineral Grey. Those interested in the Portimao Blue take note that it will only be available from January 2020 onwards while the Sunset Orange will be available from March 2020 onwards.
