Okay folks, MINI Malaysia recently announced that they are offering limited edition MINI hatchbacks called the MINI Urbanite and the MINI Amplified. This is in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year which is the Year of the Dog this time around. Woof, woof!! The MINI Urbanite is based on the MINI Cooper 5 door while the MINI Amplified is based on the MINI Cooper S 3 Door variant. Woof!!! Again.
Both of these Limited Edition MINI will be at all authorised MINI showrooms nationwide from the 5th of February 2018. The retail price (on the road for personal registration, without insurance) is RM198,888 for the Cooper based MINI Urbanite Edition: and the sportier Cooper S based MINI Amplified Edition will go for RM 248,888.00. These cars will also come with the MINI 4 Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty with Free Scheduled Service.

MINI Urbanite Edition.
Based on the MINI Cooper 5 Door, the MINI Urbanite Edition gets a distinctive additional LED Headlight up front. It takes after the classic Minis in the Monte Carlo Rallye with their extra spotlights up front. Those days the lights were not as bright as today, so the extra lights were needed. These days, its for nostalgia, baby. The MINI Urbanite Edition also gets black 16” Victory Spoke Rims with Piano Black headlight trims and grille. There are Racing Stripes on the bonnet and along the sides of the body.
Inside, customers can enjoy the John Cooper Works Colour Line in Glowing Red in their MINI Urbanite Edition with Anthracite Headliner accentuating the sporty interior. It comes with the MINI Connected standard feature with Bluetooth and USB as well as a new Rear-View Camera system with parking guidance lines and obstacle marking that detects and marks stationary objects.There is also a sport leather steering wheel for you to hold on to tightly.
The MINI Urbanite comes with an inline 1.5liter 3-cylinder turbocharged engine with 4 valves per cylinder. The engine makes 136 hp and 220Nm of torque which allows the 5 door Urbanite to accelerate 0 to 100 in just 8.1 seconds and have a top speed of 207km/h with a fuel consumption of 5 litres per 100km of petrol.
Colours offered are Midnight Black with Red Racing Stripes, Blazing Red or Pepper White with Black Racing Stripes.
MINI Amplified Edition.
The MINI Amplified Edition is based on the more performance oriented MINI Cooper S 3 Door. It gets the more aggressive John Cooper Works Aerodynamic Kit with a noticeable rear spoiler. The MINI Amplified Edition is equipped with new Piano Black grille and matching headlight and taillight trim for a darker appearance. The Racing Stripes design on the MINI Amplified Edition pays homage to the MINI John Cooper Works Concept car. It comes with 17” John Cooper Works Track in Black Spoke wheels.
The interior gets distinctive and body hugging John Cooper Works Racing Seats with integrated headrests designed in Alcantara Leather with contrasting Red Dinamica. Anthracite Headliner on the inside roof lining which features new exclusive accents in Glowing Red which was only available on the John Cooper Works Hatch previously.
There is also contrast stitching of the 6-Speed Sports Automatic gear knob as well as the John Cooper Works Perforated Leather Steering Wheel embroidery. As with the MINI Urbanite edition, it comes with the new Rear View Camera which provides parking guidance lines and obstacle marking that detect and mark stationary objects. The MINI Amplified Edition also comes with comfort access and Black Chequered interior trims as standard.
Since it is basically a MINI Cooper S with a bit more kit, the MINI Amplified Edition gets the more powerful 2.0liter 4 cylinder turbocharged engine which makes 211 hpand 300Nm of torque. It gets the John Cooper Works Tuning Kit and the new John Cooper Works Valve Silence System as standard in this edition making it a little bit more than the standard Cooper S variant. The MINI Amplified Edition goes from 0 to 100 in 6.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 233 km/h. There is also a new Track mode which can be activated via the John Cooper Works Bluetooth Remote Control. More performance goodies in this version.
The MINI Amplified Edition comes in Midnight Black with Red Racing Stripes, Chilli Red or Pepper White with Black Racing Stripes.
Standard Features for both MINI Urbanite and MINI Amplified editions.
Both the MINI Urbanite and MINI Amplified Editions feature LED headlights with daytime driving lights, as well as LED taillights and fog lights on top of their standard auto driving lights. There are automatic rain sensors for the wipers and they also share the Park Distance Control enabling easy ingress and exit out of tight parking spaces. On top of MINI Driving Modes that drivers can choose from, both the MINI Urbanite Edition and MINI Amplified Edition also come with cruise control with braking function.
Both also get automatic dual zone air conditioning surrounded by a 12 colour ambient light. There is also the high-resolution 6.5” MINI Visual Boost with 5 key controller, interactive LED ring on central instrument display, and automatic start / stop with Keyless Go. Get the soundtrack of your drive with MINI Connected with Spotify integration as it works to provide you with over 30 million songs streamed live to the car.

As with all BMW Group Malaysia vehicles, the MINI Urbanite and MINI Amplified Editions are covered by MINI Malaysia’s 5 Years Roadside Assistance programme, available for all new MINI vehicles with a comprehensive list of services that include a 24-Hour, 365-days- a-year Accident and Help on the Phone and On the Spot Hotline, Free Towing Services and when needed (over 200KM from residential home), Replacement Vehicle, Seamless Mobility, Accommodation, Mobility Services Solutions as well as Repatriation services.
