SHELL CONTINUES NO.1 LUBRICANTS POSITION IN MALAYSIA

Kuala Lumpur, 1 December 2016 – Shell continues its lubricants market leadership in Malaysia in 2015 with 27% market share, according to Kline & Company’s Global Lubricants Industry: Market Analysis and Assessment 2016 report, published recently.

In Malaysia, Shell has market share of 31% in the passenger motor vehicle sector, 31% in the commercial vehicle sector, and 20% in the industrial machinery sector. Shell is also recognized as the preferred brand for passenger car and motorcycle oil in the country.

“Shell is a very strong brand in Malaysia and the country remains a very good market as far as the company is concerned. We are heartened by the support from Malaysians over the years, who continue to trust us and our products for their motor engine protection needs,” said Leslie Ng, General Manager for Shell Lubricants Malaysia and Singapore.

Malaysia ranks among Top 3 markets for the Shell Lubricants global business.

John Abbott, Shell Downstream Director, said: “In an environment where competition continues to be tough, this is a tremendous achievement for the Shell Lubricants business. Special recognition for Shell Malaysia S.H.E.W. trade partners

In recognizing the contributions of its trade partners in Shell’s market leadership, Shell Malaysia rewarded seven of its top trade partners, who are also authorised Shell Helix Engine Warranty (S.H.E.W.), with a special trip recently to Marseille, France.

The seven Malaysians joined more than 160 guests from 17 markets around the world for two days of thrilling driving competition at the iconic Circuit Paul Ricard with BMW Motorsport. This was made possible by Shell Helix Ultra’s Premium Technology Partnership with BMW Motorsport.

“We also have to thank our strong network of trade partners who placed their confidence in our product superiority and the extra mile we go for their customers to deliver peace of mind through our Shell Helix Engine Warranty (S.H.E.W.),” said Ng.

“I have been selling Shell Helix for more than 20 years as its quality is proven.  The introduction of S.H.E.W. has made it even easier for me to recommend to customers as no other brands have anything like it.  Some are sceptical at first but they are happy to accept a free warranty that gives them peace of mind. But I never thought that being a S.H.E.W. issuing workshop would win me this trip,” said workshop owner Khor Seak Ow from Kuala Kangsar.

Shell Helix is the first and only engine oil to offer a Free Extended Engine Warranty in Malaysia for 12 years. The warranty program, introduced in May 2016, is offered free with each purchase of Shell Helix Ultra or Shell Helix HX7 engine oil, for cars that are less than eight years old and have clocked a mileage of less than 100,000 kilometers.

Shell Helix, Shell’s best-selling motor oil brand in Malaysia, recorded an increase of end-user subscription by more than 200% of its Shell Helix Engine Warranty (S.H.E.W.) program since it launched six months ago in partnership with AXA Assistance.
