Good News! Caltex have launched its Euro 5 compliant diesel fuel here in Malaysia! Caltex Power Diesel TM (Euro 5) with Techron ® D is a new ultra-premium diesel product that is cleaner and provides more power and more reliability with every fill. It should be available in all Caltex stations as I type.

Developed with near-zero sulfur content, Caltex Power Diesel TM (Euro 5) with Techron ® D contains less than 10 parts per million (ppm) of sulfur, in comparison to the current Euro 2M diesel fuel which contains 500ppm – a factor of more than 50. This basically means that there would be less soot coming out as by-product from the diesel engine which uses this fuel. It means that the injectors are cleaner, the particle filter would be cleaner and therefore it would reduce maintenance costs for those that use such a fuel for their diesel vehicles. It should also give consistent performance over the long run.
Aside from the above. Less sulfur means less dangerous pollutants. Every little bit goes a long way. Euro 5 is the way to go for diesel powered vehicles.
On a side note, I have friends waiting for this product to be launched. Most have made up their mind that this brand sells some good fuels. They are actually waiting for Caltex to launch Euro 5 diesel and this is good news for them.

Caltex Power Diesel TM (Euro 5) with Techron ® D, is an improved ultra-premium diesel containing
Chevron’s exclusive Techron ® D additive to control deposits, help maintain fuel injector cleanliness and
enable optimum engine performance. The launch of this new ultra-premium diesel product is in line with
Chevron’s commitment to offer excellent products, clean service stations and efficient services to meet our
customers’ need without compromise.

In a diesel engine, keeping the fuel injectors clean is critical as diesel fuel injectors are prone to deposit
formation. Deposits can upset the injector spray pattern and hinder the fuel-air mixing process and this can
result in decreased fuel economy, decreased engine performance and increased emissions. The new
