Truck News: Scania's Heavy Haulage Truck, the Scania R580 finds its first customer in Malaysia - Tiong Nam Heavy Transport and Lifting Sdn Bhd

Truck spotters in Malaysia take note. This is the first time someone has bought Scania's latest heavy haulage truck, the Scania R580, or to be really exact, the Scania R580 CA6X4 EHZ. A mouthful. But a very performance packed mouthful. Tiong Nam Heavy Transport and Lifting Sdn Bhd (TNHTL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of public-listed Tiong Nam Logistics Holdings Berhad, has received delivery of a R580 CA6X4 EHZ Torque Converter / Heavy Hauler truck from Scania Malaysia that will add a heavy boost to its logistic services.

The Scania R580 CA6X4 EHZ is a 6x4 heavy hauler. It is powered by a Scania DC1603 V8 turbocharged intercooled direct injected engine. The engine makes 580hp and a whopping 2700nm in torque and a very important 1,100-1,300rpm. The sort of low revs you need to keep the engine when pulling about 250tons of cargo easily in crawler gear mode. Do note the nicely long and many tyred trailer in the photographs above.

TNHTL offers complete heavy lifting, transportation and installation solutions for a wide variety of payload and  has successfully lifted, transported and installed many oversized and overweight equipment and structures throughout Malaysia. According to the folks at TNHTL, in order for them to be able to haul such heavy payloads, they needed trucks that can provide them with powerful lift capability, sturdiness and reliability. And since  TNHTL have been using four generations of Scania trucks for over 20 years (some of their Scania trucks are featured below), Scania was obviously the right choice for them as they are familiar with the after sales services offered by Scania to them.

The key to the Scania truck was handed-over by Tuan Haji Idros Puteh, the Sales Director for Scania Southeast Asia to the good people of TNHTL.
