Shell V-Power (the Shell petrol brand) recently launched a new television commercial produced with state-of-the-art CGI and a car chase scene could entertain you readers out there for at least...err.. sixty seconds. Well, it IS an advertisement and not a two hour long action movie or melodrama. I just watched this advertisement and it is action packed. You have a BMW and a Transformers-like evil sentient robotic junk-like being. Very apt.
This new Shell V-Power campaign is centered around engine protection. This is a first for the Shell V-Power brand. This is because most people associate Shell V-Power with performance and not protection of the engine. This LATEST informative campaign aims to educate people how it delivers better performance through better engine protection.
In a nutshell - Shell V-Power is designed to protects the engine against gunk & corrosion, leading to better performance of the vehicle.
PRESS RELEASE
SHELL V-POWER LAUNCHES BLOCKBUSTER PROTECTION CAMPAIGN
Shell V-Power’s new 60-second commercial highlights engine protection against gunk &
corrosion
Kuala Lumpur, Thursday (May 26, 2016) – Aiming to highlight the importance of using the
right fuel to protect the engine against the build-up of gunk and corrosion, Shell Malaysia
launched a new Shell V-Power campaign centered on protection.
The feature of the campaign is an exciting new 60-second commercial, developed with the
stylistic hallmarks of Hollywood blockbuster films to communicate the importance of engine
protection while keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.
The video, which features state-of- the-art special effects from CGI experts behind major
Hollywood motion pictures, depicts a thrilling car chase scene as a car protected by Shell V-
Power is being pursued by shape-shifting creatures representing gunk & corrosion. Evading
them elegantly, the final scene shows the gunk & corrosion creatures defeated as they foolishly
trail the vehicle to a Shell petrol station.
This highlights Shell V-Power’s unique formulation, designed to protect the engine against gunk
and corrosion to help keep the vehicle performing like new. Engine ‘gunk’ are carbonaceous
deposits that can form in the fuel intake system of the engine. On the other hand, corrosion is a
process that occurs at metal surfaces within the fuel system where water and oxygen are
present.
Shell V-Power is able to protect against gunk and corrosion by actively cleaning the engine from
gunky engine deposits and forming a protective layer on metal surfaces, helping to prevent the
corrosion of fuel system components – ultimately delivering more power to the vehicle.
Datuk Azman Ismail, Managing Director of Shell Malaysia Trading and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd
remarked, “We are proud to launch this unique informative and entertaining campaign to
Malaysian motorists. As many associate Shell V-Power with performance, we felt it was
necessary to go deeper to show that the performance is made possible by our flagship fuel’s
special formulation designed to protect the engine against gunk & corrosion.”
“At Shell, we recognise that ‘engine health’ and maintenance is very important for motorists who
purchase premium fuels. This is why I am very proud we developed a message of truly
blockbuster proportions to communicate that benefit, “he said.
Beyond the protection against gunk and corrosion that is provided by Shell V-Power fuels, Shell
also offers customers a complete engine protection experience when combined with Shell Helix
Ultra motor lubricant. A perception trial conducted in 2015 with Malaysian motorists found 9 in
10 Malaysians experienced a positive difference driving with Shell Helix Ultra with PurePlus
Technology and Shell V-Power.
Furthermore, Shell Helix recently launched Malaysia’s first and only engine warranty
programme, free with every purchase of a 4-litre pack of Shell Helix Ultra with PurePlus
Technology fully synthetic or HX7 E synthetic technology motor oil. The unprecedented
programme offers warranty against lubricant-related engine failure for up to 12 years or
200,000km, whichever comes first.
