Shell Malaysia to introduce Chatime, llaollao and Gindaco outlets to various Shell Select stores

Shell Malaysia has decided to enter into a collaboration with Loob Holding, the Food & Beverage company that markets and sells  Chatime, llaollao and Gindaco in Malaysia. The products mentioned will be introduced at various Shell Select Fuel Stations soon.

Each Shell Select store featuring the food oasis will be individually customised with different food offerings to meet the needs of local consumers, bringing together local and international food & beverage retailers that will complement Shell’s own deli2go offerings. The company also has plans to upgrade over 100 stores this year to the new Shell Select format, featuring facilities like seating lounges, complimentary Wi-Fi and charge stations as well as upgraded restrooms and prayer rooms.

Shell intends to revamp and/or launch 100 Shell Select type stations nationwide with this new concept. Right now there will introduce this 'food oasis' concept to at least 30 stores this year.  One of the first, where the launch was held, is the Taman Connaught Shell Select store. Aside from this store/station, Shell have already kicked off operations in 10 other Shell Select stores in KL, Selangor, Penang, Perak, Kedah and Johor.

All of these are added value to customers that pump their fuel at Shell Stations. You can now feed your car fuel, buy lubricants and other fluids for your car and then buy fluids in the form of ChaTime bubble tea, llaollao yoghurt and Gindaco takoyakis. You car gets fed, you get fed.

PRESS RELEASE
Shell Malaysia and Loob Holding join forces to bring premium F&B brands to consumers

Chatime, llaollao and Gindaco make their debut at Shell Select stores

KUALA LUMPUR (June 2): Consumers seeking premium food and beverages can fill their tummies by

visiting selected Shell stations across the country.

Bringing the concept of consumer convenience to the next level, Shell Malaysia is collaborating with

Loob Holding to introduce Chatime, llaollao and Gindaco outlets to various Shell Select stores. Some

stations will host all three brands – which means you can enjoy savoury Gindaco takoyakis, relish the

full flavour of llaollao frozen yogurt and wash your meal down with delicious Chatime bubble tea.

The collaboration is in line with Shell Malaysia’s three-year transformational programme ‘Welcome

to Shell’, which aims to deliver the best hospitality on Malaysian roads and an enhanced customer

retail experience. In order to achieve this, the O&G giant recently launched its brand new retail

concept, the “food oasis”, which will be introduced in over 30 Shell Select stores this year.

“We are delighted to announce our partnership with Loob Holding, as Shell Malaysia and Loob

Holding share the same values of upholding customer satisfaction and enhancing customer

experience. As a trusted partner to Malaysia and its people for 125 years, we want our stations to be

a haven for the community to refuel, refresh and rejuvenate, leaving them happier than when they

arrived,” said Ben Mahmud, Head of Retail Marketing, Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd.

Ben added that Shell Malaysia and Loob Holding have already inked a memorandum of

understanding to introduce Chatime outlets at Shell Select, with 11 already operational.

“We conducted a survey last year and found that 90 per cent of customers expressed the

importance of having a place to sit and relax in the store. So we are listening to them and delivering

what they want,” he said.

Each Shell Select store featuring the food oasis will be individually customised with different food

offerings to meet the needs of local consumers, bringing together local and international food &

beverage retailers that will complement Shell’s own deli2go offerings. The company also has plans to

upgrade over 100 stores this year to the new Shell Select format, featuring facilities like seating

lounges, complimentary Wi-Fi and charge stations as well as upgraded restrooms and prayer rooms.

Loob Holding managing director Bryan Loo said he was excited at the opportunity to bring premium

F&B brands to consumers via Shell Select stores.

“We are always seeking strategic collaborations with valued partners to grow our brands and

improve accessibility to consumers. With more than 950 stations nationwide, Shell Malaysia is an

ideal partner for us,” said Loo.

“Our target is to launch 100 outlets at Shell Select stores by 2018. We will roll out 30 before the end

of this year. In fact, besides Taman Connaught, we have already kicked off operations in 10 other

Shell Select stores in KL, Selangor, Penang, Perak, Kedah and Johor,” he said.

For a start, Loo said they are introducing three international brands under Loob Holding, as they

complement each other side-by- side as they serve premium beverages, premium dessert and

premium snack respectively.

No stranger to Malaysian consumers, Chatime is an international renowned brand from Taiwan.

Meanwhile, llaollao, the fastest growing natural yogurt brand from Spain, made its debut in Malaysia

in October last year. Gindaco, Japan’s No 1 premium takoyaki brand, is the latest addition to Loob

Holding’s portfolio of brands, having only been introduced to Malaysian consumers in April this year.

“This collaboration is part of our growth strategy as we continue investing in Malaysia. We will be

driving growth on the consumer front with the aim of serving 3.5 million customers monthly by

2018. We have some way to go, as we are serving 2.5 million customers per month now, but we are

optimistic we can reach that number,” said Loo.

To continue driving growth, Loo said they are constantly on the lookout for new brands which fit the

Loob DNA: fast moving products, automation, scalability and consistency in quality.

Loob Holding will also be exploring opportunities to grow beyond Malaysia and expand to the rest of

South East Asia, which has a consumer market of 600 million people.

“We at Loob Holding have a passion for premium F&B and we are blessed to have been able to

introduce premium brands to Malaysia. Given Malaysia’s strategic position in South East Asia, we

look forward to expanding Loob’s footprints across the region. As such, we welcome future

collaborations or joint ventures with international F&B brands who are keen to tap into the South

East Asia market,” he said.
