Toyota had decided to set up quite a display with the newly launched Hilux (above) and Fortuner (below) at My Auto Fest 2016. You can see that this time Toyota spent a little bit more money in differentiating the two models. The dashboard of the Hilux, whilst so much more improved than the previous model is similar to the Fortuner but lacks more premium touches like the real stitched leather covering the top of the instrument binnacle and it also lacks the digital air conditioning controls. There is more effort spent on the vehicles.
And they suddenly decided to preview a mini MPV called the Toyota Sienta. This could be seen as the car that UMW Toyota would like to replace the Avanza with. It is a mini MPV that could seat seven and has sliding doors. This car makes the Avanza look like a car from the prehistoric ages. It is so modern looking that the Avanza feels ancient. It is already sold in Indonesia and is pretty popular over there. 1.5liter engine used is similar to the one used in the Perodua Alza. Well, it is based on the Toyota Vitz, which is a compact that is based on the Toyota Passo which is the basis for the Passo Sette, which is the base for the Alza. So yes, it is essentially an Alza with sliding doors. And the main thing is that it looks so much better than the Avanza. Bring this in quickly Toyota. All you have to do is get the CKD kits from the Daihatsu/Toyota factory in Indonesia, homologate it and wallah...no need for the Avanza anymore. The faster the better.
Buyers who place their bookings on the Toyota Vios, Corolla Altis, Camry Hybrid are entitled to cash rebates from RM4,500 to RM6,500 depending on model. Test drive units are available outside the venue.
Volkswagen
Volkswagen via Wing Hin Autohaus is at My AutoFest 2016. The dealer for Volkswagen has showcased the new Vento 1.2liter sedan and the special offer Scirocco R. Now priced at RM190,000 from RM289,888. A very good buy for a very fast car. There is also the facelifted Volkswagen Golf 1.4 TSI outside for test drives with other Volkswagen cars too.
Jeep
Jeep has decided to showcase the Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler/ Renegade SUVs. There is a vehicle maintenance package + RM10,000 or Big Cash Savings + RM10,000 on the Cherokee Longitude. There is a Free Accessory Customisation Kit worth RM39,999 + RM10,000 or Big Cash Savings +RM10,000 on booking a Wrangler Unlimited Sahara and Wrangler Rubicon models. This additional RM10,000 mentioned is a special for MY Auto Fest 2016. You will not get this extra RM10,000 discount after this event according to Jeep Malaysia.
