Honda Malaysia has decided to preview the all new tenth generation Honda Civic. This cannot happen sooner actually as I cannot wait for Honda to stop selling the current model and start selling this new one. This new Civic was swarmed with people when they lifted the black cloth covering the car. Everyone was super excited and wanted to view the car and had their camera and camera phones out.
The all new Civic gen 10 made its ASEAN debut over at the Bangkok Motor Show in March this year. Honda Malaysia is now preparing to officially launch the car soon. They wouldn't tell us when obviously, but it is going to be very soon as they have opened bookings for the car. Note the photo above. There will be two engine units, the 1.8liter normally aspirated model and a 1.5liter VTEC Turbo. Fuiyoh. VTEC-TURBO. You get more bragging rights with this.
"What Honda do you drive?"
"Civic 1.5L VTEC TURBO - 173hp and 222Nm torque at least!!!!"
"Fuiyoh...mine only VTEC leh"
"Hahahahahhaha, I the king now worrrrr. Kiss my hand."
But seriously folks. It is so much nicer looking than the 9th gen model. A massive improvement on the outside. It looks very long (more D segment) and low slung. So it does look very aerodynamic and sporty. More hatchback than sedan. Whilst it may be as long as some D segments, it is not as wide as a D segment car. It is slightly overstyled in my books and has a little bit too much overhang in the front and in the rear (the wheels seem to be sitting too much in the middle instead at each corner).
But first impressions count in new car sales and it does look extremely appealing to almost everyone out there. This Civic is designed to shock and impress from the start. Expect it to fly out of showrooms from the start. My opinion is irrelevant actually as most of you would have made up your minds on what you think of the car. Yes?
I will need to try out the car before I make any solid judgment on the car. You know that when it comes to Yours Truly, the drive is as important as the styling. As for the styling, nice, a bit over styled but I may warm up to it. No final verdict on this from me also. But I think this model already hits more correct spots than the previous one and offers so much goodness in a C segment car. My prediction that it will cost close to RM140,000 for the 1.5 VTEC Turbo variant. Now repreat after me - VTEC TURBO. Fuiyohhhh!
As for other Honda cars at My Auto Fest 2016, you can view the Honda HRV in the new Dark Ruby and Pearl Red colours which also come with 17inch wheels and tyres. It looks better with bigger wheels this HRV. The Honda City, Jazz and CR-V are also on display and there are promotional prices or discounts ranging from RM1,000 to RM9,900. Honda merchandise are also on sale with a 10% discount and there are test drives, colouring sessions for kids, lucky draws and more from Honda Malaysia at the auto show.
The My Auto Fest 2016 is on from today till the 22nd of May 2016.
