Proton Suprima Crossover Concept displayed at My Auto Fest 2016, the Proton Perdana teased and other deals

Proton has displayed something new at the My Auto Fest 2016 auto show at Mines International Exhibition and Convention Center. It is a Proton Suprima Active crossover concept car. Like the Proton Iriz Crossover concept before this (also displayed), the Suprima Crossover gets slightly taller profile tyres and a slightly raised ride height (it looks taller from the front and rear instead of from the side). There are also roof rails and more plastic cladding front, side and rear.

Quite attractive. Much like the quite attractive Iriz Crossover concept (below) that the management of Proton have not decided to sell yet. They should. These two cars look its part and it funky. It will capture the current crossover trend and with the Iriz, it will shift the direct competition it faces against the super popular Perodua Myvi. Going a little niche will make it an even better reason for customers to buy the Iriz over the Myvi. Put the Iriz X-Over into production quickly Proton!

As for the Suprima Crossover, it may not be as feasible as the Iriz Crossover due to the fact that it will be priced higher than a Suprima S. Why so you may ask? Well, everything costs more like extra roof rails, raised suspension, larger wheels and other plastic cladding would make the already expensive Suprima S into something even more expensive and out of the reach for what is Proton's target audience these days. A Iriz Crossover whilst slightly more expensive is still an affordable car with a lower price point.

Proton also had the new Perdana teased. They kept the black cloth cover on the car and just showed part of the front and part of the rear. I have no complaints with the exception that some of the people have said that Proton has teased the Perdana too long and the momentum may be dying off. And another point is that why have faux tailpipes on the bodykit but not paint it aluminium (see above - they chromed the reflector surround but not the fake tailpipe)? This is being done by the leaders in luxury premium cars where the faux exhaust pipes are chromed or painted silver/aluminium. It must not be body coloured. It looks like exhaust outlets. It should be painted like exhaust outlets. Note the current Mercedes Benz models. It's as simple as that. But do launch the car A.S.A.P. as the overall car looks pretty decent already.

Proton also displayed their cars like the Persona, Saga and Iriz. There are discounts up to RM3,600 for selected 2016 models, discounts up to RM14,000 for selected 2014 and 2015 models, additional RM500 discount for teachers and nurses and lucky draw for visitors.

My Auto Fest 2016 is on till the 22nd of May 2016.
