SAIC Motor Malaysia announces plans to begin local assembly of MG vehicles in Malaysia beginning in the 1st half of 2026


SAIC Motor Malaysia on the 15th of October, announced plans to begin local assembly of MG vehicles in Malaysia scheduled to begin in the first half of 2026. An important milestone in bringing MG products closer to Malaysian customers, by taking advantage of the tax breaks provided for manufacturing in Malaysia, as well as also strengthening the brand's presence regionally.

First Locally Produced JAECOO J7 Rolls Off The Line In Malaysia - CHERY Malaysia invests in dedicated assembly line for JAECOO

 CHERY Auto Malaysia Sdn Bhd, officially launched the CHERY Corporate Malaysia Factory in Shah Alam, Selangor. The new assembly plant will be the first in the ASEAN region to produce the soon to be launched premium off road SUV, the JAECOO J7 in Malaysia.  Aside from that piece of good news, CHERY Malaysia also state that they plan to use the facilities as a base to conduct Research and Development for their right-hand drive cars for brands under the CHERY group..

Porsche Malaysia celebrates the 1,000th Porsche Cayenne assembled in Malaysia


Porsche Malaysia, which are represented by Sime Darby Auto Performance, recently celebrated a very memorable milestone. The 1,000th locally assembled Porsche Cayenne rolled off the production line at its assembly facility at Inokom in Kulim, Kedah. The Cayenne assembly line up north in Kedah is the first local assembly facility for Porsche outside of Europe and since March 2022, the Porsche Cayenne has been made locally and connecting sports car dreams for many Malaysian Porsche fans expecially with that locally assembled tax break price.

Production for the new EQS at Mercedes-Benz Production Plant in Pekan, Pahang - The EQS 500 4MATIC now priced from RM648,888


Today the 15h of February, the first-all electric Mercedes-EQ built in Malaysia has been successfully launched in Mercedes-Benz production plant in Pekan, Pahang. Now locally assembled (CKD or completely knocked down) for the Malaysian market, the new 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS will be available in a more powerful EQS 500 4MATIC, from mid-March 2023 onwards. The luxury flagship fully electric sedan has a 330 kW rated output thanks to the new dual electric motor and comes with an extensive range of up to 696km according to WLTP (amended from 695km because of a typo and 1km in difference is a huge difference that it will disrupt the space and time continuum) . This makes the EQS 500 4MATIC, the best in its class.

Proton Officially Announces the Roll-Out of the First Proton X70 SUV at its New Plant Extension in Tanjung Malim


About a year since the Proton X70 SUV was launched in Malaysia, PROTON has announced the official roll out of the first X70 to be built at its new RM1.2 billion plant extension in Tanjung Malim.  The roll-out ceremony was attended by the Honourable Datuk Darell Leiking, Minister of International Trade and Industry, Dato’ Sri Syed Faisal Albar, Chairman of PROTON, Mr An Conghui, President and CEO of Geely Auto Group as well as senior management members of PROTON.

Groupe PSA & Naza Automotive Manufacturing Holds First Supplier Day in Gurun - All-New Peugeot 208 Slated to be Produced Here From the Likes of It


Recently, Groupe PSA and Naza Automotive Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (NAM) held its first Supplier Day event in Gurun Plant located at Kedah Darul Aman, northwestern part of Peninsular Malaysia. Held on the 20th of February 2019, the response to the inaugural Supplier Day was positive with 140 representatives from automotive industry suppliers, global industry experts and government authorities nationwide attending the get together. This was the first time NAM and its largest stakeholders, Groupe PSA has had a gathering between them and the local vendors since the official handover was done last year. Some news on upcoming models were revealed as news of the local assembly was shared. New 2019/2020 Peugeot 208 seems to be in the pipeline for CKD.
