The MINI Track Day 2020 at the Sepang International Circuit was held last Thursday where it brought together a bunch of MINIacs and driving enthusiasts for an exciting day of circuit driving. It saw two groups put their driving skills to the test during the MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) Track Experience and MINI Driving Experience.
There, drivers got to drive the more spicy and hot JCW models and were also able to fully immerse themselves in the heritage of the JCW legacy, while enjoying a rare opportunity to get up-close and personal with the classic MINI JCW.
The MINI JCW Track Experience that day included the New MINI John Cooper Works Countryman 306HP and the New MINI John Cooper Works Clubman 306HP, as well as their 3-Door and 5-Door variants. Drivers were given the opportunity to take their allocated MINI vehicles on the racetrack to experience for themselves the pure performance and signature go-kart feeling MINI is known for over the years.
The more, dare I say it, 'normal' MINI Driving Experience showed drivers how they can get the most out of a MINI in terms of safety, performance and driving fun. Here, they experienced high-speed handbrake turns, further underlining the great handling of the MINI vehicles, complete with state-of-the-art technology, modern levels of safety, quality and reliability. Most importantly, drivers expanded their driving skills and gained knowledge about correct vehicle handling and driving in critical situations. In other words, beginners got to drive the less cooking versions of the MINI but still had tons of fun as they could drive super fast in a controlled environment.
Events like this by the authorised distributors actually make it all worthwhile when you buy your car from them. This is where the extra goes to - trackday events like this and also special invites to launches, gala dinners and so much more make the customer experience better when you buy a new car directly from the manufacturer's official channels. So everyone there had lots of fun at one of the nicest circuits in Southeast Asia.
“Passion is synonymous with MINI, and it has earned that reputation by imparting more than just passion-fuelled drives for the past 60 years but also by playing a significant role in ensuring that passion translates safely on the road. The MINI Track Day 2020 is how we fulfil that responsibility while making it enjoyable for all, and we are glad to present yet another thrilling experience for MINI fans this year.” said Sashi Ambi, Head of Corporate Communications, BMW Group Malaysia.
Aside from that, MINI Malaysia previewed the New MINI Countryman Blackheath Edition. This is a limited-edition dramatic all-black design MINI Countryman variant, which is reminiscent of the stunningly dark shrub land of Blackheath, South East London in the United Kingdom. Everything Bri'ish can be incorporated into a MINI from the looks of this, including a snrub! Next I want to see a British pub like The Nag's Head (which is in London, close to Knightsbridge) have its styling cues made into a MINI.
Anyway....before I digress, the New MINI Countryman Blackheath Edition, the first special edition of its generation, offers some menacing looks with its Midnight Black exterior colour and Piano Black design features. The New MINI Countryman Blackheath Edition is also the first MINI Countryman to be powered by the newly updated MINI TwinPower Turbo engine, paired with the 7-Speed Sport Dual Clutch Transmission. The limited-edition MINI arrives complete with the latest update of the MINI Connected App for a seamless and unique ownership experience of the New MINI Countryman Blackheath Edition.
“Beyond passion, MINI exemplifies iconic and timeless presence, superior and signature Go-Kart drive handling which is truly MINI from the very beginning of its creation. Now, with the Blackheath Edition, this presence is further accentuated and its presence on the road is moreprominent. Menacing.” said Ambi about the new MINI special edition.
Nothing really much about the car, but just additional styling bits and bobs here and there. But this is what some customers may want. A little bit more exclusivity from the other ones out there.
