This is quite a good show by Naza Group of Companies. They have decided to contribute RM1.25 Million from their coffers to help the Malaysian government's fight against the COVID-19 outbreak in the country. This is a very good move a far cry from those businessmen and businesswomen as well as local celebrities who complain that the government hasn't given them any subsidies. This was what I had been reading on Instabook or Whatstwit earlier today
First of all, as business owners, you enter business with cashflow projections of ups and ALSO downs. So don't tell me it is supposed to be rosy all the time? Have you not allocated for periods of depression? In the stock market there are bull runs and then there is the bearish period where it tanks. You are supposed to budget for these situations and not ask the government for handouts like the B40 group.
Secondly, to those celebrities, you do not buy fancy handbags and nice cars without savings for a rainy day. So life is hard and these people should know to have a safety net when shit hits the fan.
So I am quite pleased to hear that the Naza Group has taken the initiative to donate such a large amount. This is actually what most Malay entrepreneurs should do as most of them who are successful today have been getting pioneer grants, start up grants and also low interest loans. It is time to pay back the government's generosity in critical times like these. Unlike those that think that the recent government allocation was to spur the economy. It isn't but only a means to hold up, not boost to another level.
Back to the story at hand. A cheque for the said amount was presented to the Malaysian Prime Minister YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin this afternoon at the Prime Minister’s Office, Putrajaya, by SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin, Group Executive Chairman & CEO, Naza Corporation Holdings. It should definitely help the fight against the coronavirus by buying a little more medical supplies and other stuff.
SM Nasarudin said, “We hope the contribution by Naza Group will help alleviate the plight of those financially impacted by job disruptions and loss of earnings resulting from this global pandemic. We are all thankful for the selfless commitment shown by our medical practitioners, the police and armed forces and other frontliners in helping to manage this situation and keep us safe.”
“Apart from this monetary contribution, Naza Group will actively look at ways we can leverage through our businesses to assist the Ministry of Health in managing this unprecedented crisis. As Malaysians we must come together during this critical period to overcome the adversities that lie ahead,” added SM Nasarudin.
Kudos to Naza Group for actually understanding the plight of the nation and the sacrifice of those in the frontline. Not to mention that this is what Malaysian businessmen should be doing. Big or small, one should be contributing to the nation in this critical period.
You can also do your part by staying at home actually. Do not go out for no reason and keep the coronavirus from spreading.
