Here is a video on the newly launched 2019 Perodua Aruz, the Malaysian compact car manufacturer's first 7 seater SUV. To date, the Aruz has garnered over 2,000 bookings prior to the launch and it looks like it will be one of the more popular people carriers under the RM100,000 price range. Coming in at way under that price at RM72,900 and RM77,900 for the Aruz X and the Aruz Advance respectively, it is an affordable people carrier with SUV style looks and construction.
The Aruz Advance you see in the video was displayed right outside the event hall and I recorded footage after the launch. You can see people passing by in the background as well as those stopping by to have a closer look at it. If you are sharp, you can tell that one of the blurry looking figures at the background is Zachary Ho of Autoworld.com.my, the fella who has made a guest appearance in a few of Motoring Malaysia's videos.
It is quite an exciting time in terms of the automotive industry here in Malaysia as the battle has moved to the SUV segment with Perodua entering in the affordable B segment and Proton hitting hard with their larger C+ segment X70 SUV. People are slowly purchasing more of these vehicles rather than the traditional sedans or even hatchbacks. The market is ever changing, fluid as ever.
