Photos of the 2019 Proton Iriz Facelift - Unverified but quite plausible

2019 proton iriz facelift via motoring Malaysia

These two photos are making its way on my watsapp chat groups. They are presumed to be the facelift for the upcoming 2019 Proton Iriz facelift. I cannot verify or confirm its authenticity but it looks plausible and production ready. They seem to be showing the car exiting the rain/water proofing testing facility.

The car sports a different bumper and grille design up front. More larger ducts below and it looks a little more cohesive in terms of design.

At the rear there is a black out piece connecting the lights making up a nicer looking tailgate. It somehow takes after the old Proton/Lotus EMAS concept car made by Proton back in 2010. When Proton was ambitious and still wanted to conquer the world in its own.

The Lotus EMAS was a Giugiaro designed car and I suppose, this is what that legacy provided - some styling cues to use. Note the same use of spaced lettering as well as black bits. Quite a homage.

If the pics are genuine, this would be the first full external facelift of tye Iriz since it was launched. The 2017 revision was to its powertrain and drivetrain mountings which made it acceptably refined for normal use. Now, 2019 is the time when a mid-life facelift was rumoured to take place.

Let's see if these 'spy shots' are true.
