Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has now launched the locally assembled Mercedes-Benz E 350 e Plug-in Hybrid. This is part of MBM's sales and marketing strategy where the brand basically plays within the current Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) regulations which allows MBM to bring in very well specified cars and still price them competitively. The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class assembled in the Mercedes-Benz Pekan Plant are the E 350 e AMG Line and Exclusive Line, as well as a limited to sixty units model, the E 350 e Edition 60 (celebrating Malaysia's 60 years of independence).
The E 350 e with its powerful Plug-in Hybrid module that delivers total system output of 210 kW (286 hp) and a torque of 550 Nm. It can travel 33 kilometres in full electric mode and has a claimed fuel consumption as low as 2.1l/100 km. 0-100kmh is 6.2seconds with a top speed of 250kmh. It will take you to Penang to Kuala Lumpur pretty darn fast if you have an emergency.
All E 350 e variants are equipped with product highlights such as AIR BODY CONTROL (formally known as AirMatic, Mercedes-Benz's air suspension technology - this is now available in a locally assembled E-Class), Pre-Entry Climate Control system (which cools down the cabin before you enter) and an advanced energy recuperation mode, making the car even more efficient.
The E 350 e AMG Line gets the AMG body styling and 19-inch AMG five-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels and the interior gets the AMG sports steering wheel. It is mainly a cosmetic makeover as the powertrain, drivetrain and suspension are similar with the Exclusive Line.
The E 350 e Exclusive Line has the classic Mercedes look and a more classically styled interior that shows off Mercedes-Benz craftsmanship. It features Nappa leather upholstery and best in class features including the Burmester surround sound system and Widescreen Cockpit.'
And to commemorate 60 years of Malaysia as well as the launch of these new models, there is a limited edition E 350 e model. Limited to only 60 units, E 350 e Edition 60 features exclusive options which include 19-inch 6-spoke light alloy wheels, Exclusive Line interior with designo piano lacquer in black with flowing lines, designo two-tone macchiato beige and saddle brown interior, a key in high-gloss white with ornamental surround in matt chrome, and the exclusive Edition 60 badge made by Selangor Pewter giving this car a special, local artisanal touch over the standard model. The interior reminds us of a 1930s art-deco styled limousine coupled with modern TFT display screens. Very unique.
We caught the Edition 60 and the other newly launched E 350 e variants at its launch over at the Mercedes-Benz Pekan Plant where MBM also held their 3rd Quarter 2017 Performance Report as well as a Plant Tour for the media.

As part of the hybrid offensive strategy, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia today announces the availability of
the new Mercedes-Benz E 350 e, its top of the range model with the superior hybrid technology in
two variants – AMG Line and Exclusive Line, as well as a limited model, the E 350 e Edition 60.

The Plug-In Hybrid impresses with its dynamism and efficiency, allowing around 33 kilometres of
all-electric and therefore locally emission-free driving. Its four-cylinder petrol engine, in conjunction
with a powerful electric motor, gives it a total system output of 210 kW (286 hp) with a system torque
of 550 Nm. With this set-up, the E 350 e achieves the performance of a sports car yet consumes less
fuel than a small, compact-class car.
The E 350 e comes standard with the class leading AIR BODY CONTROL air suspension with
continuously adjustable damping to ensure a very high standard of ride comfort and driving dynamics.
The damping at each wheel is adapted to the current driving situation, and can be set for more
comfortable or sporty characteristics as required.
Together with DYNAMIC SELECT, AIR BODY CONTROL can be made more comfortable or
sporty in the 3 stages "Comfort", "Sport" and "Sport+". Thanks to the pneumatic all-round selflevelling
suspension, the vehicle maintains a constant level irrespective of the load. In the "Comfort"
transmission mode, the vehicle is at the normal level. To increase the ground clearance, the vehicle's
ride height can be raised at the touch of a button to up to 25 mm above the normal level with rearwheel
drive and up to 35 mm with all-wheel drive. Once the vehicle speed exceeds approx. 80 km/h,
the suspension is lowered to the normal level again. At speeds above approx. 120 km/h, the vehicle
body is lowered by a further 15 mm to reduce aerodynamic drag and further improve driving stability.
This lowered vehicle level is the same as that activated in the "Eco", "Sport" and "Sport+"
transmission modes. Featuring nine forward gears, the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission takes
dynamism, efficiency and comfort to a completely new level.
The E 350 e is equipped with enhanced MULTIBEAM LED headlamps, which open up new
dimensions in headlamp technology. Each headlamp is equipped with 84 individually activated highperformance
LEDs rather than 24, which means that they are exceptionally bright and precise, and
automatically illuminate the road surface with a previously unsurpassed, precision-controlled
distribution of light – without dazzling other road users. The head-up display shows the driver key
information without the driver having to take their eyes off the road traffic conditions.
The E 350 e is also equipped with COMAND Online, which leaves virtually nothing to be desired in
terms of infotainment, navigation and communication. Information is shown on the 31.2 cm (12.3-
inch) high-resolution media display. Its highlights, alongside the double display, include the touch3
sensitive Touch Controls on the steering wheel and the new, intelligent graphic design of the
Multifunction Telephony. It allows mobile phones to be charged and, at the same time, connected to
the vehicle's exterior aerial – with absolutely no need for cables or a telephone holder.
Burmester® surround sound system is available for superior listening pleasure. It drives 13 speakers
with a 9-channel DSP amplifier and a total system power of 640 watts. All the speakers are
additionally optimised for performance with the premium sound system.
With Parking Pilot and its inclusion of a 360° camera, all-round vision is made possible by the
reversing cameras and three other additional cameras. Observation of the areas to the side and directly
in front of the vehicle thus helps during parking and manoeuvring. The information from Parking
Pilot and the cameras is graphically presented in full HD on the vehicle’s Widescreen Cockpit.
The E 350 e features a commanding yet sporty appearance that is typical of AMG, with perfectly
coordinated equipment – from the dynamic AMG body styling and 19-inch AMG five -spoke lightalloy
wheels.
The AMG Line interior differentiates itself from the other interiors in terms of both look and feel.
Hallmark AMG features include the multifunction sports steering wheel with flattened bottom section,
sports seats with horizontal quilting on the seat cushions and sporty backrest contour and AMG sports
pedals.
The E 350 e is available in 2 variants, Exclusive Line and AMG Line, as well as the limited edition E
350 e Edition 60 at market launch.
The E 350 e Exclusive Line features the classic Mercedes look with an interior appeal that carries the
modern luxury hallmark of the Mercedes-Benz craftsmanship, featuring high-grade materials such as
Nappa leather upholstery and best in class features including the Burmester surround sound system
and Widescreen Cockpit.
The E 350 e AMG Line lends a commanding presence with its distinctive and striking design through
the AMG body styling and 19-inch AMG five-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels and the dynamic and
sporty interior with metal weave trim, and AMG sports steering wheel.
Limited to only 60 units at launch, E 350 e Edition 60 features exclusive features and luxurious
options including 19-inch 6-spoke light alloy wheels, Exclusive Line interior package with designo
piano lacquer in black with flowing lines, designo two-tone macchiato beige and saddle brown
interior, key in high-gloss white with ornamental surround in matt chrome, with the exclusive Edition
60 badge featured on the front fenders and centre console.
