All-New BMW HP4 Race, All-New BMW G 310 GS and the New BMW S 1000 XR have been launched at the recent Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) 2017.

BMW Motorrad Malaysia is BMW Group's motorcycle arm and it had decided to launch the All-New BMW HP4 Race, the All-New BMW G 310 GS and the New BMW S 1000 XR at the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) 2017 which happened recently. BMW Motorrad had basically presented their latest motorcycles at the biggest motorcycle event in Malaysia.

The All-New BMW HP4 Race is BMW's racing superbike created only for the race track. It costs a whopping RM 520,900.00 and is a limited run super duper bike. It is limited to a production run of 750 units worldwide and are individually crafted by a small, highly specialised team to ensure the very highest level
of quality of power and reliability for capabilities on the racetrack.

BMW states that the all-new BMW HP4 RACE offers a purebred racing engine similar to specifications 6.2 and 7.2 as in the Endurance and Superbike World Championships. The peak output is 215 hp at a dizzy 13,900 rpm. The maximum torque of 120 Nm is achieved at 10000 rpm and the maximum engine speed has been increased to 14500 rpm which is very, very race bike like. It runs its power through a 6-speed close-ratio racing gearbox is used with optimised transmission ratios and various secondary ratios.

The new BMW HP4 RACE is in the same performance category as current superbike factory racing machines, however surpassing in the area of suspension and chassis design with its carbon fibre frame. Weighing 171 kilograms when fully fuelled and track ready, the new BMW HP4 RACE is even lighter than the factory racing bikes currently used in the Superbike World Championship. This bike is the ultimate in track day specials for bikes with its no compromise approach. Of course, that entry price again...RM520,000+++. Massive.

After the HP4 RACE the All-New entry level BMW 310 GS (above) brings the GS series of motorcycles to very down to earth, affordable levels. At RM 29,900.00, it brings that GS experience to a level never before here and should capture a new set of fans and enthusiasts who yearn for something premium and German.

The new Super Adventure Sports Tourer, BMW S 1000 XR (above) is BMW Motorrad new interpretation of the sports touring range.  In the new S 1000 XR, BMW Motorrad presents the Euro 4 999 cc in-line 4-cylinder engine which makes 165 hp at 11000 rpm (up from 160 hp at 11 000 rpm for the previous model).

It is priced at RM 105,900.00 and aside from the new Euro 4 engine, it also comes with  vibration decoupling handlebars and an increased payload over the old model. These allow the rider to feel less fatigue and also carry more stuff at the same time.

These new models bring in something different to the Malaysia motorcycle scene. At one end there is that super expensive HP4 RACE. At the other end is one super affordable BMW GS motorcycle. I  see this as good things as it actually shows that BMW is quite confident with the market where there could be someone out there willing to fork out half a million Ringgit for a superbike as well as the fact that they have also decided to bring their motorcycle experience to people lower down the food chain. Kudos to BMW Motorrad.

Details of these unique bikes are in the official press release below.

The All-New BMW HP 4 Race. Individually crafted with innovation for top
performance on the race track.

With the all-new BMW HP4 Race, BMW Motorrad Malaysia presents a purebred racing
bike with only a production run of 750 units worldwide. The motorcycles are
individually crafted by a small, highly specialised team to ensure the very highest level
of quality of power and reliability for capabilities on the racetrack.

The all-new BMW HP4 RACE offers a purebred racing engine similar to specifications
6.2 and 7.2 as in the Endurance and Superbike World Championships. The peak
output is 158 kW (215 hp) at 13900 rpm. The maximum torque of 120 Nm is reached
at 10000 rpm. The maximum engine speed has been increased as compared to the
engine of the BMW S 1000 RR from 14200 rpm to 14500 rpm. With the aim of
achieving the best possible performance, a 6-speed close-ratio racing gearbox is used
with optimised transmission ratios and various secondary ratios.

In terms of engine and electronics, the new BMW HP4 RACE is in the same category as
current superbike factory racing machines, however surpassing in the area of
suspension with its carbon fibre frame. Weighing 171 kilograms when fully fuelled and
track ready, the new BMW HP4 RACE is even lighter than the factory racing bikes
currently used in the Superbike World Championship.

The new BMW HP4 RACE likewise meets the highest demands of racing technology in
the area of spring elements and brakes. Both the FGR 300 upside-down fork and the
TTX 36 GP spring strut are supplied by the Swedish manufacturer Öhlins, with identical
parts being used both in the Superbike World Championship and in MotoGP. The light
alloy underslung swingarm made of milled and sheet metal parts is also a component
used in the Superbike World Cup. Featuring two Brembo GP4 PR monoblock brake
calipers, the brake system of new HP4 RACE also has parts otherwise only to be found
in World Cup machines. Coated titanium pistons and single-piece aluminium calipers
with chemically nickel-plated surface make for what is currently the very best
combination of materials available. In conjunction with 6.75 mm thick 320 millimetre T-
type racing steel brakes, the system ensures stunning brake performance.

The new BMW HP4 RACE comes with an extensive package of electronic control and
assistance systems as well as a weight-optimised on-board electrical system which has
been optimised to meet racing needs. A wealth of information is available on the 2D
dashboard (data-logger) with transferable data memory.

The BMW HP4 Race is only available in the BMW HP Motorsport colour scheme which
gives the ultimate superbike an aggressive demeanour.

The All-New BMW G 310 GS. Ready for everyday adventures.
The GS range of BMW Motorrad motorcycles represent a promise of perfect functioning,
reliability and robustness. The BMW G 310 GS transfers these qualities to the below
500cc capacity segment, embracing in its own distance, mature interpretation. A highly
contemporary product with a level of versatility that is currently unrivaled in the
segment. It is nimble and agile in city traffic, while supremely robust over light terrain.

This makes it the perfect companion for the adventures of everyday riding. Extremely
compact yet mature and comfortable, the GS opens up a whole new world of riding
experience within its segment. It is precisely this versatility that makes the BMW G 310
GS unique in the entry-level segment.

The centerpiece of the new BMW G 310 GS is the 313 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder
engine known from the BMW G 310 R with four valves and two overhead camshafts
together with electronic fuel injection. The capacity of 313 cc results from a bore of 80
millimeters and a stroke of 62.1 millimeters. A salient feature of the single-cylinder
engine in the BMW G 310 GS is the fact that its cylinder is tilted to the rear and its
cylinder head is rotated by 180 degrees: intake at the front, outlet at the rear. This
configuration follows the logic of a straight, power-enhancing supply of fresh air-fuel
mixture and also has positive consequences in terms of the bike’s architecture. With an
output of 25 kW (34 hp) at 9,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 28 Nm at 7,500 rpm, the
engine of the new BMW G 310 GS is the ideal partner for dynamic riding pleasure, in
conjunction with the low unladen weight of 373 lbs.

In terms of its suspension, the new BMW G 310 GS utilises a tubular steel spaceframe
with bolt-on rear section that combines torsional rigidity with robust quality. Given its
good stiff balance, this provides the basis for excellent ride stability and a precise
steering response. The front wheel suspension is accomplished by a solid upside-down
fork while at the rear there is an aluminium swing arm in conjunction with a spring strut
that is mounted on it directly.

High front fender, striking flyline and short, high rear, the BMW G 310 GS features
classic elements of its big GS sibling models. Its compact proportions with a short
wheelbase, a 19-inch front wheel and extended spring travel make for a typical upright
posture, promising an agile, nimble riding response. The BMW G 310 GS is also
designed for the world market, it is compatible with diverse fuel qualities as well as
meets all emissions standards and local requirements.

The BMW G 310 GS is available in three strikingly expressive colour variants: Cosmic
Black non-metallic, Racing Red non-metallic and the elaborately designed Pearl White
metallic. These variants offer a spectrum ranging from sporty and robust to
contemporary.

The New BMW S 1000 XR. Adventure Sport Further Refined.
With the introduction of the BMW S 1000 XR in 2015, BMW Motorrad offered its own
new interpretation of the sports to touring range, not least adding a powerful dose of
emotion into the mix. The Adventure Sports style was born - a fascinating synthesis of
innovative technology, performance and safety combined with dynamic touring qualities,
sporty performance, a high level of comfort and supreme everyday practicality.

Even more potent now, the New XR offers a new in-line 4-cylinder engine which meets
the EU4 requirements. In the new S 1000 XR, BMW Motorrad presents the 999 cc in-
line 4-cylinder engine not just in an adapted form to meet the requirements of the EU4
pollutant class but also with enhanced power. The output is now 121 kW (165 hp) at 11
000 rpm (previously: 118 kW (160 hp) at 11 000 rpm), in other words it has been
increased by 3 kW (5 hp).

Additionally optimised with vibration-decoupling of handlebars and an increase of 10 kg
in both the maximum permissible weight and the payload of the bike for more stability in
riding and carrying more. Softer isolating elements on the handlebars effectively reduce
vibrations from being passed onto the handlebar ends in the new S 1000 XR.

On pleasure rides and holiday trips, the rider benefits from an increase in the maximum
permissible weight of 10 kg from 434 to 444 kg in the latest edition of the S 1000 XR,
which is likewise equivalent to an increase in payload of 10 kg.

The new S 1000 XR is available in a new colour offering of refined Ocean Blue
metallic matt which gives the Adventure Sport touring bike a more distinctively refined
appearance.

The retail price (without insurance and inclusive of GST) for the new models are:

BMW HP4 Race - RM 520,900.00
BMW G 310 GS - RM 29,900.00
BMW S 1000 XR - RM 105,900.00
